"Honey, will you and Jim cut the onions?"
"But that'll make us cry, and guys don't cry!"
I think this may be what death feels like.
I was awake and up at 4 a.m., so by the time I got home a little after 3 this afternoon my body was done.
Had fun at church this morning. In addition to the (very) good people of Pathway I got to see the Wileys and Fords, here in town for the wedding of Eric Molenkamp. Eric grew up at Celebration and moved to Phoenix just before we did, in his case to join the Phoenix PD. His folks, the Wileys and the Fords are best friends, and it was great to see some of my homies again.
I guess Tim & Marybeth were sleeping off the festivities.
I think my favorite kind of preaching is the sermon that requires me to take a dense, meaty section of Scripture and open it to head and heart. Hard work, but what better way to expend energy?
And then in class we continued our OT Intro with a look at the Book of Joshua.
"Class, meet S.J. Bedmizan, now the Mgr."
After lunch at Chipotle with the kids I came home, jumped in Pam's car and drove 45 minutes west to Pat's. Look what I brought home:
They are beautiful!
This pic doesn't do them justice, in part because the depth and gloss of the clear coat doesn't show.
That blue - which is a bit deeper than it appears here - is called Gulf Blue, or Golf Blau in German, and it's the color for the entire car, what originally came on Ilsa. The ivory around the circumference is the way VW painted their wheels in the early '60's.
I am really, really happy with the way they look and can't wait to see the finished body.
Oh yeah. When I went out to the garage this morning I saw a puddle of gear oil under the left side rear drum, too. The problem is clearly not the right side spacer. Heavy sigh.
The video of the Indy Series crash in Vegas fits the word horrific. I remember watching Weldon interviewed after he won Indy earlier this year, and he was so enthusiastic, full of energy. Sad.
I think there's probably more to be said but my brain has powered down for the day. At some point I'll go out to the kitchen and nuke the leftover pizza, but beyond that I'm done for the day.
Tomorrow will begin early; I'm meeting Josh W. for breakfast. It will end late with our monthly elder meeting. In between? Probably not a whole let. It's gonna be a preacher's Monday.

Good grief...I used to babysit Eric (and Mark) when I was a student at Grace. They loved it when I would take them in the dorm and yell, "Man on the floor!"
I saw Mark a few years ago at NGYC. He came, as a sponsor, with a youth group from Josh W's church (in MI) to help with a bunch of projects. They came two or three times--and always did a great job. We loved having them.
