Nothing has value but that which you grant it.

It's time for AZ hot weather. Mostly, it's time for all those people to go back to Iowa, and Minnesota, and South Dakota and all the other northern states from whence they came, and the heat drives them back north. Monday begins the last week of Spring Training, and the end of that draw also will help. Then we can have our roads and parking lots and restaurants back.

On the right is a VW chassis with a freshly rebuilt engine, a completely new brake system, new shocks and tie rod ends, new wheel bearings, new fuel lines, and misc. other parts.

On the left is an empty space where a teardrop trailer was built. Now it's empty and READY FOR THE BODY which I'm *supposed* to have in less than 48 hours. It will sit on the dolly I built for the purpose while I install the new wiring harness, the headliner and engine compartment insulation and seals. Then it will get set on the chassis for the rest of the work. Photo updates to follow.

His prospects weren't lookin' good, but Santorum probably assured his doom when he said another Obama term would be better than a Romney presidency. A case could be made that repeated foot-in-mouth blunders are a bad indicator for someone who wants to be leader of the free world.

I watched a fascinating program tonight on the National Geographic Channel about the Hassidim, the ultra-orthodox Jewish sect. (The "-im" ending on a Hebrew word, pronounced "eem," pluralizes the word. Hassid is the singular.) I've read a lot about Hassidism for years and have two books on how to live the Hassidic life, but this program taught me things I didn't know.
Interestingly, this hour-long program followed one on the Amish. Lots of similarities.
In both sects every aspect of life is prescribed, from birth to death, from morning to evening. What you wear (and mustn't wear), what you do (and mustn't do), what you learn (and mustn't learn)... every area of life.

"He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy." (Titus 3:5)

I'm thankful my relationship with God does not depend on my efforts, my adherence to a list of do's and dont's. I screw up too often.
Instead, it depends on the One who died, and thereby paid the penalty for my sins, and then rose from the grave in the most significant even in human history - an event we commemorate in two weeks.
