Q: What do you call a sheep with no legs? A: a cloud.
Several online news outlets are running the headline: "Santorum: 'Unemployment rate doesn't matter to me.'" Within the articles they acknowledge that in context Santorum was referring to his candidacy, and whether a declining unemployment rate weakened a Republican candidate.
So apparently it's OK to take a statement out of context for the sake of a splashy headline so long as you correct the false impression in paragraph five of the article...that everyone will surely read.
Who needs MMA when you've got the NHL? (wait through the 15-second movie trailer.)
What's the key factor in moving the cursor via the touchpad on my Mac? It isn't pressure because the butt end of a pen doesn't work. I don't think it's moisture because my index finger was covered with dried latex caulk and the pad still responded. Heat?
Inquiring minds want to know.
The owners across the street are getting a new composition shingle roof installed. Their house is the same model as ours and comes in just under 1300 square feet of living space. The crew was at work by 7 a.m. and two hours later they had the old shingles and paper off. I counted 12 guys up there and couldn't see those working on the other side. When I left at 1:00 they had the new paper down and had started laying shingles. They were all gone when I got home at 4:30, so I don't know what time they quit. And I think the original group included guys who left after the tear-off was done. But they don't have much left to do tomorrow - maybe 25% of the roof still needs shingles. That outfit means business!
It's been a day of accidents here. This morning a semi and car collided, the semi rolled, and the driver of the car was critically injured. This afternoon a collision in the I-10 involving several vehicles also resulted in a truck roll-over, this time with the two occupants trapped inside. Both happened at rush hour - morning and evening respectively - and made a mess of traffic. I paid more notice to the reports than I might have otherwise because in between those two accidents I drove through both sites.
I am reminded how tenuous is our grip on life. I too easily move through my day with a false sense of confidence that I'll see tomorrow.
Presumptuous.
That first accident was caused by one of the vehicles running a red light. Can happen at any time, at any intersection, including the one I'm driving through.

Track pads for macs (and touchscreens for phones, tablets, etc) are capacitance activated. Meaning you need something that will conduct electricity like your finger, metal or a special stylus.
