Yeah, but they're energy efficient.
It's Sunday night. It's Easter Sunday night. So this will be brief and entirely inconsequential.
Last night I read David E. Davis's column about driving from San Francisco to Oregon. His favorite section of the trip was Hwy 199 from Crescent City, CA to Grants Pass, OR. I remember that stretch, and it is beautiful as it winds down from 1,000' elevation in Grants Pass to sea level at Crescent City (we always did it in that direction on the return leg of our vacation). He did it in a new Porsche 911 Turbo. We did it in a '71 VW bus, and a few years later in a '59 Olds. I don't think it was the same.
After church the kids came over and lent their muscles to help me with one of those milestone points in the VW project. We went from this...
To this!
Now that the left side of the garage is freed up I can get the Rambler in there and begin prepping it for our trip this summer. I'll go back and forth between them as parts and time allow.
The carb rebuild kit for the Rambler came in Saturday's mail so I'll tackle that soon. I haven't rebuilt a carb since I did the 2-barrel on the '59 Olds back in the mid-80's.
Pam and I are BIG Red Green fans. That show was one of the good things about living in Michigan. I guess they don't get it in Arizona.
When my brother read that I was doing a carb rebuild he sent me
this.
Canadian humor, eh?
Lots of good things being said about Mike Wallace on his passing at age 93. What was ambush journalism is tonight called hard hitting interviews.
I'm not sure.
What I am sure of is that there's a cinnamon roll out in the kitchen with my name on it. And a cup of coffee left in this morning's pot that will taste just fine after 90 seconds in the microwave.
I'm outta here!
