Prevent inbreeding - ban country music.

Interesting sessions this morning. As often happens for me in these kinds of seminars it was not the focus of his comments but almost an aside that got my mind going into an area of thought that I think will prove profitable re. my work and its effectiveness.

I hate war. I accept that it is sometimes necessary as the last resort. I do not believe that any President, at least in my lifetime, has sent American men and women into harm's way casually or without the firm conviction that it was absolutely necessary. They have been honorable men, none so calloused as to be insensitive to the pain of both our soldiers and their families.
I'm just saying, I hate war.
I have a friend, the son of a couple I went to college with, who is suffering from PTSD as a result of multiple tours of duty on the other side of the globe. He also has a loving wife and two beautiful young children who need their husband/daddy. I hate that he sees no reason to continue living, a condition wholly attributable to the horrors of war. He loves his country and volunteered to do whatever he could for our safety and freedom, and this is the result.

Some of the most impressive people I know aren't out in front. They're silent heroes, fulfilling God's design for their life quietly, with commitment and steadfastness. Most people never see the effort they expend living out the godly character the Bible describes, and they would never think of mentioning it. They just do it.

It warmed up here some today. And the thunderstorms rolled in. At home? Upper 90's during the day and mid-60's at night. And as hard as it is for some to believe, that's near perfect weather. Yes, it is a dry heat.

I learned what a fouette is. I had seen them but didn't know that's what they're called. Turns out they're pretty hard to do, especially beyond the third or fourth one.

I just discovered the HHR has a fold down armrest for the driver's right arm. It completely covers the cup holder. Maybe that's why they discontinued production.

I'll head out the Norders' driveway at 7 a.m. and drive to Detroit's metro for a noon flight back to Phoenix. I have a lot to get done before Sunday morning so it will be a working flight. I'm hoping I can get an aisle seat this time, maybe even an exit row. On the flight here I had a middle seat and discovered I couldn't bend over far enough to reach my case under the seat in front of me. By the time my head hit that seat back my hand was still 12" from the floor. I'll gladly pay the $29 for a little extra room on a 4-hour flight.
