"To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug." - Helen Keller

Tiger Woods is no longer the world's highest paid athlete, having been replaced by boxer Floyd Mayweather. The irony: Mayweather is in jail for beating up his girlfriend in front of their two children. Anybody see a common theme here?

Summer hath arrived and overnight lows now start with the number 8. In another month that will be a 9. I still prefer this to the sub-freezing, driving snow, icy road, face freezing, fall on your toosh weather of a midwest winter but it has its downsides. Window coverings make a huge difference in providing a layer of insulation but having the lights on in the middle of the day is a bummer.

Roger Clemens is found not guilty on all charges. Which is not the same thing as saying he's innocent. ESPN's legal analyst attributes the verdict to "brilliant lawyering" and legal technique.

I spent about 90 minutes working on Ilsa this morning. I got the wiper motor and assembly all cleaned up, converted to 12v. and installed. Also cleaned and installed the turn signal switch and arm so I can move ahead with that part of the wiring harness. At one point I caught some movement out of the corner of my eye and discovered I had company in the form of an 8" lizard. I tried to herd him outside but he didn't want to be in the heat anymore than I did. Last I saw him he was headed into the corner with the shovel, rakes, and other garden equipment.
(We don't need to tell Pam about this.)

Heard a song on the radio that was new to me but the station's playlist suggests it's not all that recent.
"It's Raining Men."
Fun song, good for dancing. Alas, even alone in the house I know better.

I gotta say it: the people of Pathway are outstanding! Once again, their readiness to help out when a need arises exemplifies what it means to be the Body of Christ.

I'm working ahead on some of my weekly tasks in preparation for being gone the first part of next month. Today I chose the songs for the next five weeks - through the month of July. I still have to put together the slides for each Sunday but that's the shorter part of the process.
Today's problem: As I previewed each song from the list to make sure it worked in combination with the others for that Sunday I wanted to listen to each all the way through - and there wasn't time for that.
Music is a gift from God, part of Imago Dei (we'll sing that song this Sunday). It's highest, most noble use is praising the Creator.
But Motown is pretty good, too.

Elder meeting tonight, which means an early dinner and home late. Hence this earlier-than-normal post. I'm thankful for this group of men. We work together easily, share the same goals, and on the rare occasions we disagree we do it agreeably.
