Cry when you need to, laugh when you can.
We had a good time with the Husas this morning. The next time we see them their newborn, Ethan, will be three.
Steve preached this morning at a church in Glendale and Michelle is visiting her family in Michigan. So after church we went to Paradise with Josh and Aubri and the kids. Because Josh is a "health care provider" (he's a Pediatric Occupational Therapist) he had an interesting and helpful perspective on what I guess we're all calling Obamacare. (Even the President has called it that.) The private clinic he runs expects a variety of negative outcomes that will adversely affect their business and patient care. Yeah, he's NOT a fan.
It's not that we don't need reform, but from his perspective (and I found it convincing) this cure is much worse than the disease.
I went to Harbor Freight this afternoon and got a spare wheel/tire for the trailer and a bracket that mounts it to the tongue. I'll install it tomorrow morning while the temps are still in double digits. It's a relatively cheap way to insure I won't have a flat tire, at least on the trailer.
Speaking of temps, who's the idiot that stored his sweatshirts in the crawl space above the garage, where it's absolutely beastly at any hour of the day? That guy sure wasn't thinking about a vacation on the Oregon coast.
But our heat is both anticipated and normal. Those in the center and east of the country are getting AZ level temps and the humidity that comes with it in those areas. Many of the homes there don't have AC. We didn't in either of our century-old houses in Michigan and never had weather like this. Can't imagine if we had.
I watched most of the first stage of the Tour de France this afternoon. They crash, too!
OK, so they don't do it 30 yards from their driveway with nobody else in sight, but they're professionals, so it should take more to make them biff.
Like a photographer that thinks he can step out into the street for a great shot to send back to his brother-in-law.
We're also watching Olympic qualifying. One of the younger gals at Pathway swam competitively in college and sent me her picks for each of tonight's races. It's fun to watch her predictions and how closely she's called both men's and women's races. Makes it more interesting.
A few days ago Pam made a two layer chocolate cake for me. I can't leave town and let any of that go to waste. So if you'll excuse me I've got some serious desserting to do.
