Complex problems have simple, easy-to-understand wrong solutions.

The average allowance for U.S. kids is $780 per year. Half of them are getting an allowance by the time they're 8 and only 1% of them save any of it.
They'll grow up to be Congressmen.

NYC Mayor Bloomberg took advantage of the shooting incident to say there are too many guns out there. I wonder if he regrets that opportunism now that it's clear all the wounded bystanders were hit by police gunfire.

I was out in the garage at 7 a.m. and worked until 11:30. Made great progress on Louise's brakes. For too long everything I worked on uncovered something else that needed replacement, but everything went smoothly today. All four wheels have new brake lines, wheel cylinders, and shoes. The left rear was so messed up it also has new springs and hardware. The rear wheels have new drums installed and the front drums were delivered this afternoon. I have to swap out the hubs on those - take them out of the old drums and install them in the new - repack the bearings, and then put them on the axles. Next step: bleed the entire system to get new brake fluid in. Then fill up the differential and .... go for a test drive to see if it all works.
Oh yeah, first I have to get the tires put on the wheels I cleaned and painted.

I know what the initials stand for, but what does RIP mean? I see people on Facebook who post that regarding someone who has died. Why? What are they thinking when they post "RIP?"

I got a call from Cardinals Coach Whisenhunt asking if I'd be interested in trying out for QB.

Lots of press noise for Tiger Woods, who is at -4 going into tomorrow's final round of the Barclays Golf Tournament. You'd think he was the leader, instead of Sergio Garcia at -10. And Phil Mickelson is also -4, but hardly mentioned.
(gag)

Hurricane Isaac is bearing down on the Republican National Convention...maybe. On the news tonight they said the computer models have it turning to the right and hitting Tampa or to the left and staying in the gulf.
So, is Isaac a Republican or a Democrat?

There's a rhythm to my week. Monday is recovery, spent doing chores, working on cars, and vegging. Tuesday starts the prep for Sunday and usually involves music, slides, and some reading. Things build as the week goes on and by Friday I'm getting pretty focused. My hands might work on a Rambler Saturday morning but my head is chewing over the next day's efforts. By Saturday night I can't concentrate on anything because a growing portion of my brain is thinking through our two services.

So a little after 6 p.m. on a Saturday evening I've got the sound equipment loaded into the Kia, my roller case packed (except for the computer I'm typing on), all the printing done, cut, and set aside...
I'll be up stupid early tomorrow because I won't be able to sleep. My mind will be too active. I'll pretend to watch the news.
But mostly I'll be eager to get with the good people of Pathway and do what we do best.
I really like Sundays.
