"Don't talk about yourself; it will be done when you leave." - Wilson Mizner
I got the Chromecast set up today. Love it!!! Biggest bang for the 35 bucks I've ever spent. Because I use Google Chrome I can get whatever is on my laptop screen also on my TV screen, never mind Pandora and.....
I also loved "Sycamore Row" by John Grisham. Hey, that's a book you need to read. Easy, brisk, captivating, but also worthwhile. I won't be a spoiler by saying more than that, but you should read it.
I do feel bad for friends and family in Grand Rapids. As I type this it's 66 here and -2 in G.R. And while people in places like AZ think about that cold, I can tell you as one who lived there for 17 years, when weather like this hits another thing they think about is the heating bill that will come in a few weeks. If you live in a 3-story, 100-year old house with the original double-hung windows and drafty doors like we did you think about a second mortgage.
I worked on the VW today, re-routing the wiring harness.
Rule #1 when working on electrical: start by disconnecting the battery.
If you don't, that wire you pull off the back of the headlight switch will touch things and do a whole lot of sparking and popping. DAMHIK.
In the process of disconnect/re-rout/re-connect, I discovered that I'd swapped the two wires for the dash warning lights. I had the wire from the generator connected to the warning light for the oil pressure sensor, and visa versa. So what I thought was low oil pressure (BAD) was really low voltage from the generator (bad). Tomorrow I'll address the cause for this issue, but it should be a simple fix, probably just an idle adjustment.
Pam began her new 5 days X 8 hours schedule today. On M, T, Th she gets off at 5:30 and home about 6:00. The plan is that I fix dinner those nights, and she does it the others when she'll get home at 5:00. So tonight was my first attempt, and it came out OK. Everything was hot, and tasted fine. Tomorrow: crock pot beef.

The picture made me laugh. There's an Amish community not far from here. (Our Wal-mart has hitching posts.) I'll have to keep a look-out for snowboarders!
Also, we had a *high* of -10°F today. Tomorrow's more of the same. We live in an 85 year old house, and our windows have ice coating the *inside*. Stupid winter.
Sycamore Row can now be heard read each day on Wisconsin Public Radio or their broadcast archive at http://www.wpr.org/programs/archives/chapter-a-day
