"The same thing happened today as yesterday, only to different people." - Walter Winchell

My brain was so busy yesterday that it didn't want to work today. I forced it through this morning but didn't have a lot to show for the struggle. This afternoon I did tasks that required no mental effort beyond clicking a mouse.
Boy, does this sermon need work!

My roses are blossoming, the lilies all have leaves, some to the surface, and both orange trees are full of very fragrant blossoms. Welcome to spring in the desert. Last weekend's downpour has brought everything to life.
OK, everything except my brain.

"Possession is 9/10ths of the law."
Putin possesses Crimea, and the longer it takes the West to get their act together the less likely the situation there will change. He seems to have pulled it off, but that's not surprising. What's more troubling is what he or a similarly ambitious person might try next.

I know I shouldn't be, but I'm still surprised at how quickly I see ads on sites for things I've done a Google search for. Look up "impact wrench" and five minutes later CNN.com is showing me options from Sears, or....

This morning I had the every-6-months check on my pacemaker. The lead to the upper chamber is working 6.7% of the time, down from 7% at the last check. The lead to the lower chamber isn't doing anything. I had two episodes of arrhythmia in the interim, one in October and one in December. At the current rate of usage the battery will last another 7.5 years.

He's going to try to weasel me the special piece of equipment that will allow me to skip these appointments. There's a device about 6" x 6" x 6" that would sit on my nightstand. On a pre-arranged evening I'd plug my cell phone into this box and while I sleep it would read my pacemaker's data and send it to their HQ. Don't ask me. But it's free, so I'm good with it.

Pam normally walks her dog after she gets home from work. But tonight we're going out to dinner and then to a hot rod show down by the stadium. It's free, the weather is perfect, and hey, it's cars. (This is the first of a string of car-related events over the next few days, but I'll get to them as they develop.) So I'm going to walk the dog and feed him so we can leave as soon as she gets home.
