Pam's phone died at the ripe old age of 4 months. Fortunately, we bought the plan that had a new phone arrive via UPS the next day at a cost to us of a whoppin' $5. But we're both so low-tech that I'm not sure we can get it set up again. The guy at the T-Mobile store transferred everything across but all the settings are factory. Can I remember how to get it like her old one?
Steve came out this morning and helped me get the new rear axle out of the Falcon and bolted up to the frame. I still have to torque down the U-bolts - didn't have a deep-well 3/4" socket - and that will happen tomorrow morning. I think the front axle shims will arrive in tomorrow's mail, which means I can finish at that end, too. Then the chassis part of this project will be DONE! OK, almost done. I still have to fabricate the brake lines that will run from the new master cylinder to the new axles, but that will come later. Feeling good about the rate of progress.
Things I think I think about the Donald Sterling situation:
- He does sometimes talk like a person not in complete control of his faculties. This is a guy who was smart enough to make billions in real estate but he's acting and talking like a doofus, digging himself in deeper every time he opens his mouth.
- If he is suffering from age-related dementia can he be held culpable for his comments, no matter how despicable? I've known seniors with dementia whose personalities changed drastically. We knew they weren't them and that they weren't responsible for their words or actions.
- His wife points out that if she had said those things they wouldn't be punishing her husband, so why should she pay a penalty for his transgressions? Seems like a reasonable point. That said, her track record on racial matters isn't...sterling.

IMHO...cutting Sterling WAY too much slack to blame any dementia, which, often, just reveals what an individual was previously able to hide. And, about the suggestion that if SHE had said those things the league wouldn't be punishing HIM, if accurate (who knows?) is wrong; and two wrongs don't make a right. They've got billions. They stand to make a HUGE profit selling the team. Why not do the more graceful thing and sell, as quietly as possible, and get on with something else?
