"Existentialism means that no one else can take a bath for you." - Delmore Schwartz

Redneck porch

An early morning post. I'm sitting in the Seattle airport waiting for my flight home having just finished a really bad bag of "food" I got from McDonalds. Really bad. As in, I know what they told me it was but I'm not sure I believe them.

I'll go from 55 degrees here at 5:30 a.m. to 101 at home by the time I arrive there. Not sure how I feel about that. The sun will be nice but I'll miss the green.

Had a great visit with the folks. Mom's 91, dad turns 92 in three weeks, and I'm blessed to still have them here. They continue to show the effects of the aging process and I wish I could be close by to help them out with simple tasks that are no longer simple for them.

I'm bad at taking pictures and these are bad pictures that don't do them justice, but it's what I got at dinner last night. We went to Black Angus to celebrate a late Father's Day. Younger brother Mark and his wife Mimi were there, as was older brother Scott who came over from Spokane to be here at the same time as my visit.

When I get back I'll jump right into final Sunday prep. I worked while here but some things can only be done at/from home. Once again I've found something about being away geographically helps me think about my work from a fresh perspective and I'm going to make some adjustments, some fine tuning to things when I get back.

I'm also going to get the teardrop out of storage and prep it for VACATION! Two and a half weeks - but who's counting? If the weather stays reasonable I might do some sanding on the truck body. I've got lots of hours ahead of me with a sanding block in hand, and it's the kind of work I can do in shorter or longer stretches as time and inclination allow.

Since writing the above I've arrived home, got a bunch of stuff done this afternoon, and met Pam for a paleo dinner (fajitas, no beans or rice) after she got off work. I made a list of things I have to do tomorrow (I never make lists) and starred the things I'd better complete before 11 a.m. when we move into triple digit range.

When I got into the Falcon at the airport it started but not without a stumble. Same thing on the way home after dinner, so I think a new battery may be in my future. The heat here kills 'em, and as a result finding one with a replacement warranty is almost impossible.
