"The most influential of all educational factors is the conversation in a child's home." - William Temple

The caption says, "Us 'old geezers' have found that garbage day is nothing special. So, I said to myself... 'Self, what would really make things exciting around the old homestead for tomorrow morning's pickup.'"

I tried to watch soccer this afternoon but after less than five minutes I gave up. I know it's the world's most popular sport, I just can't figure out why. An hour's worth of kicking the ball around and maybe they get it in the goal. Maybe, but not likely. Is there a sport that takes longer to score?

I gave the Falcon some loving this morning. It will sit in the garage all by itself while we're gone on vacation so I washed it inside and out and vacuumed the carpets. It was filthy on the outside from the week's storms and the inside was looking pretty ragged. Getting back in it when we return will feel much better now.

It occurred to me this morning that heading into L.A. I'll encounter the traffic of residents returning from their 4th of July trips. Going out the other side will be a piece of cake, and most escapees will have headed north, south, or west for their vacation, not east. The desert isn't a big draw in July.

I downloaded the Twitter app to my phone but can't get it to accept my logon info. I used my laptop to change my password, so I know I've got the correct info.
How are my legions of followers supposed to keep up with me if I can't use Twitter on the road??

I'm so old I remember when MTV showed music videos and CNN was news stories.
Turns out CNBC is no longer financial news. Yep, reality shows. And F1 races when the Tour de France preempts them on NBCSN.
I'm recording tomorrow's race at Silverstone, so nobody tell me who wins until I get home and can watch it.

Posts may be a bit irregular beginning tomorrow because internet access will be hit and miss. When I do post it will be with pics of our journey, so stay tuned.
