"Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go." - Oscar Wilde

If you saw on national news tonight the coverage of the flooding here you can imaging the wall-to-wall attention local stations are giving it. Because it rained a few days ago the ground is saturated (it only takes an inch for that to happen here in the desert) so all of what's fallen today is runoff. And some areas close by have rec'd 4" today, which is a year's total.

We don't have any trouble at our house or nearby other than some intersections that are impassable. The storm drain system is wholly inadequate to handle anything more than a brief shower so things back up very quickly.

Right now the sky is lit up, the thunder booming, and the rain falling. That will mean more trouble for people anywhere near an arroyo, or out in a canyon. This morning I-17, the N/S interstate from here all the way through Utah was closed because of the flooding.

I had a meeting this morning at a Starbucks I hadn't been to before. Very limited seating, but the problem was the volume at which they played their music. Blasting! It was hard to hear the person sitting across from me. Do you suppose that's their way of encouraging customers to leave so others can take their place?

Customer Service Hint #283: when someone calls with a question, wait until they've asked the entire question before giving your response. Chances are at least good that because you didn't wait to hear the whole question the "answer" you're giving them doesn't address their problem. And if you keep talking despite their best attempts to tell you so you only make them very frustrated. Very frustrated.
And you make it worse when, after you've finally stopped talking and they've explained what the real issue is, you indicate you're frustrated they didn't make that clear at the beginning.
YOU WOULDN'T STOP TALKING!!

I worked on my lesson this morning. This week's challenge: condense 300 years of church history and theological development into about 20 minutes.
But I get to use slides, so it should go fine.

Long day on tap for tomorrow. If things go well in the morning I should have some interesting pictures for tomorrow night's post. If they don't go well I wont' be here.
