"The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul." - J.S. Bach
When our boys were young they knew that every time we entered a store they were to put their hands in their pockets and leave them there until we left.
It made going to the bathroom tricky, but we never had a problem with them handling, and then breaking something.
Based on my observations at Starbucks this morning that tactic has passed out of fashion.
We went to Abuelo's for our anniversary dinner last night on the basis of a recommendation from one of Pam's coworkers. Two thumbs up. Because we were there before 6:00 we got the early bird special - any two lunch items plus an appetizer to share - for $16.99. We both got the tilapia (plus a fancy add-on to describe the sauce and scallops) and a guac dip. The portion size was perfect and the food delicious.
This morning I pulled out my debit card at Starbucks to find...I apparently left it at Abuelo's. I'm going to assume it was my doing, nothing nefarious on their part, but it still filled me with a sense of panic. Turns out the solution was pretty simple. Called Wells Fargo, they deactivated the card (I checked online and Abuelo's had already rec'd their money), they'll send me a new one, and I can go into any branch and get an "instant card" to use until the new one arrives (7-10 days).
Whew!
Pam helped me lift the crankshaft out this morning. Then I realized the cam shaft bearings are still in the block. How do I get those out??
I got the outside of the door sanded. The end of this round of sanding is in sight. The inside of the door, the tailgate, and the hood left to go.
It's 5:15. I learned 20 minutes ago that the kids/grandkids are coming over for dinner to celebrate Megan's 12th birthday. (It's been a crazy week. Pam asked a week ago if it was OK but then forgot to tell me it was all arranged. No worries.) Just back from the gym, a quick shower, set the table for the meal she's been prepping all afternoon (and I thought it was all for me), and then it's family time. Except Steve just called to say Jason is running a fever and may have brought home a nasty from his daycare/school. So they're not coming.
More food for me.
more anon. They'll be here any minute.
