In case you think you had a bad day.
We spent today with my folks. Pam hasn't seen them in almost 18 months and it was time to fix that. Dad is 92, mom 91, and we all recognize opportunities for being together are drawing to a close. So the extra effort it took to be with them was more than worth it.
I am not a camera person. I get too caught up in the moment to think about preserving the moment. But when it came time to leave I grabbed my camera and got three quick pictures.
First, stand next to each other. OK, as next to each other as the necessary walkers will allow.
Then we take a picture, but I wonder about the light coming through the window directly behind them. Turns out that wasn't a problem, but dad's eyes were mid-blink so it looks like he's dozing off. OK, maybe he is dozing off.
So we'll swing around and take one from the other side so there won't be as much light behind them. (It's probably a good think I don't think to take pictures because I'm not very good at it.)
Hey, this one actually turned out pretty nice!
They're pretty nice, too. We love them very much, value the rare occasions we get to see them, and are very thankful we had this short-notice opportunity.
Tomorrow we fly back home, but time with them was time very well spent!
