"There are two typos of people in the world - those who can edit and those who can't." - Jarod Kintz
It's Thursday night and there's football on. This is good.
I tried going back to sleep but it wasn't going to happen, so by 2:00 I was out in the garage working on the engine. by 8:30 I had the air cleaner down to bare metal and primed, the valve cover on, and the oil line from the block to the head installed. I'm working slowly and deliberately, and probably more cautiously than necessary. But it's been decades since I did this kind of engine work and I really don't want oil leaks all over my brand spankin' new engine. There's no hurry.
By 9:30 I was at the coffee shop - a different Starbucks close to an auto parts store - drinking a carmel latte and working on Sunday's material. Saw that same guy with the iPad taking pictures of the ceiling, floor, the overhang outside.... Weird.
Stopped at that auto parts store on the way home for some VHT paint (very high temp) I'll use on the exhaust headers and a tube of gasket dressing. We weren't quite into triple digits when I got home so I gobbled lunch and went back out to put on the side cover and sprayed three coats of high gloss black on the air cleaner. Looks good.
We were out for our Thursday night dinner last night (Pam's working a 12-hour tonight and tomorrow night) so I missed the President's speech. I think he's in a very difficult spot - fighting ISIS means aiding Assad's Syrian regime - but some of this is a mess of his own making. Sen McCain is making that point loud and clear, pointing out that this is what he predicted would happen if we withdrew from Iraq before that country was stable. That's water over the Mosul Dam, so we'll see how this plan plays out.
Ray Rice sucker punched a woman, knocked her unconscious, and deserves whatever legal, professional, and social repercussions he gets. His now-wife Janay is getting ripped for her decision to stay with and defend her husband. They may be right; she may be displaying classic abused woman behavior. But ripping on her is no help, it does her no good. Nor, I suspect, does it do any future abuse victims much good to hear this is self-destructive behavior. In situations like this criticizing her decisions from sixty feet away does more harm than good. The close friend & confidante who can put an arm around her and speak to her heart may (!) have an effect.
Lay off Janay.
I'm tired.
The I-10 was shut down this afternoon because of a serious accident. Someone driving a U-Haul truck sideswiped a car that then went through the center median and hit two oncoming cars, with several people seriously injured. The driver of the U-Haul didn't stop. 'cause a rental truck with crash damage on the left side will certainly escape notice.
And a local guy took out an ad on Craig's List seeking a dog with which he could ... well, you fill in the rest.
How stupid do you have to be to take out a Craig's List ad for that kind of thing?!
Turns out there was a K9 unit happy to make his acquaintance.
Life in the big city.
