"I'm the guy that made Joe DiMaggio famous." - Lefty Gomez, pitcher
The sermon sucked. Time to shake things up and get 'er fixed, so I was at Starbucks a bit before 6 a.m. for a complete rewrite. Turns out I have my pick of tables at that hour.
I told Pam I think this may become my new routine. I have been working in the garage until about 8:00 or so when it gets too hot, but now that daytime highs are only in the 90's I can do Sunday prep as the sun comes up and then spend an hour or two in the garage before lunch.
This afternoon I had to have some blood drawn for a dr. appointment Monday. She said to leave the gauze bound in place for about 20 minutes so I went to a Jack-In-the-Box down the street to get a drink, do some work, and kill some time before stopping at the gym on the way home. (One of my personal rules: always have work with you so unexpected delays aren't time wasted.) I didn't want to go into the gym with bright pink wrapping, or to start bleeding as a result of - yes, more burpees.
The place was empty, understandable if you've every had their food. I'd been there a few minutes when a man came in, gave his order at the counter, and then stepped back to wait for it to be ready. A few minutes later the gal behind the counter yells, "NUMBER 16."
He stepped forward and took it.
The President is not having a very good month. Leon Panetta, former head of the CIA, former Chief of Staff, and former Sect. of Defense (read: cred) has written a book quite critical of President Obama's decision making process and the choices he made re. Iraq and ISIS. Today the NY Times published an article saying the administration's claim that it knew nothing about the prostitution scandal within the Secret Service advance team in Colombia last year wasn't true. There are memos indicating they knew almost immediately after it happened. Democratic candidates in tight races for both the House and the Senate are asking him not to show up in their districts. And CBS is ticked that the President won't disclose the portion of his travel expenses that are related to campaign fund raising.
Next month is Awareness Awareness month. We're all wearing clothes.
I love Wikipedia. I know all about its weaknesses, but I'm always seeing or hearing something I wish I knew more about, and Wiki to the rescue. Tonight, Bob Bondurant, Leon Panetta (above), and Felix Mendelssohn.
