"You can never plan the future by the past." - Edmund Burke
I didn't read the article, don't even remember where I saw the headline. But it referred to the eventual disappearance of cable for TV. That was new to me. We use DirectTV and I'd give it a B, maybe a B-, but we dumped the local cable company because they were terrible. But so is Congress, and they're not going away. So what is it about cable TV that will make it obsolete?
Our forecast high for today was 87. Topped that by 9 degrees. That's about 40 degrees hotter than what it was in west Michigan today.
OK, the preceding was just to make Sue happy. She says she skips over the blog content about the truck because it bores her. That's OK; she's a girl.
My day's project started at 6:45 when I started pulling stuff out of the garage.
I said I wanted to be done before noon and I cam close. I finished at 12:30, but that included getting everything cleaned up and put away. The plastic is off the walls, the paper is off the floors, and everything associated with painting is cleaned and back in its place.
The rest of the parts are either up against the house in back or the other wall of the garage. Two doors, a hood, and a tailgate.
I get WAY too tense while doing this. I don't know why it makes me so anxious, but it does. And now that physical work and the mental stress has me exhausted inside and out.
It didn't go without hiccups, but I got three coats of a 2-part primer on all the body panels that get the full cut & buff treatment. And I'm generally pleased with the way it turned out.
Of course I've never done this before, so maybe it's all screwed up, but I'm naively satisfied.
Now it's once again time to sand. First with 220, then 320. Now that it's all a uniform color I can see a few small spots that need body filler, and those will get attention. Then it's an epoxy seal coat, color, and clear coat.
The nice thing is that I'm done spraying everything at the same time. From here on out I work on one part of the truck at a time. I start with the cab - doing all of those steps just on it, and then setting it on the frame. From there to the fenders, and so on.
But first...back to the chassis. It's done except for the brake master cylinder and lines, so Monday I start on that. Then I'll set the engine and transmission in place. That way I don't risk banging the freshly painted cab with the engine during its install.
Since coming in the house at 12:30 I've only been out of my chair to go to the bathroom and get more to drink (dehydration). That will continue until I get up to go to bed. Tomorrow is Sunday, which is to say an exhausting effort in its own way. I knew I'd feel like this so I have everything ready to go.
Some good college football on this afternoon. At least the parts of the games I saw between my serial napping.
