"I recorded my hair this morning. Tonight I'm watching the highlights." - Jay London

Because it was my first trip to the gym in over six weeks I cut the normal workout in half. Did the normal exercises, but half the reps. It went OK; we'll see how I feel in the morning.

I discovered a way to reduce the prominence of the scar on my cheek. It involves the straight edge razor I use to shave in the morning. Ooops.
That didn't feel at all good.

I'm not getting this brake system figured out. Today I took another stab at adjusting the brake shoes all the way around, tightened up a couple of fittings that leaked (I think one line is going to need a total replacement), and adjusted the plunger rod on the master cylinder. The pedal still goes to close to the floor before stopping. I'm not sure what comes next.

And the cheap buffer I bought at Harbor Freight died this afternoon. I'll replace it with something of better quality tomorrow so I can finish buffing the cab interior.

I did my part to advance cyber Monday by buying about a dozen little parts for the truck. Return springs, seals, linkages, and the like. Merry Christmas to me.

I don't like what seems to be happening in the wake of the Ferguson incident, especially the animosity directed toward police officers. I've had LEO's in every church I've pastored and they have been, without exception, exactly the kind of people I want maintaining law and order, and coming to my aid if the situation came up. I suspect that the vast majority of people criticizing them, including professional football players, don't have the temperament, the courage, or the commitment to do that job.

The surveys I've seen, conducted by national news organizations, show the vast majority of the population support Officer Wilson and LEO's in general. Because the animosity is directed not at what could be legitimately argued was a flawed process, but at one officer and, by extension, all LEO's, I can easily imagine that it will result in a significant backlash. If that happens the result will be an increase in societal division, not anything close to improvements where they're warranted.

One indication that a backlash is developing would be counter-demonstrations in support of law enforcement. That could be an indication of a new wave of societal hostilities.

I don't know where this goes from here. Maybe it gradually dies out as another event dominates the national news cycle. I hope so. Because if distrust of LEO's spreads we'll all suffer the consequences.
