"Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence." - Vince Lombardi

I am not Cuban and my Spanish speaking abilities go as far as hola, banos, and huevos rancheros. But somebody needs to tell Senator Rubio and his buds that it's time to get over it. We've been hassling Cuba since 1958 with no discernible effect except the suffering of the Cuban people and the continued separation of divided families. A guy named Castro is still in charge, it's still a communist state, and there's no sign it will change any time soon, with our without continued sanctions. We have normalized relations with countries far worse from a human rights perspective (cf. China), and a tiny island nation, even one a hundred miles off our coast, poses no threat to our sovereignty or safety. One day, probably fairly soon given the age of Raul, someone whose name is not Castro will be in charge. Seems like we'd want to be on speaking terms when that time comes. Never mind that we can score major points with their people through trade that puts groceries on their shelves and money in their pockets. Pretty hard to demonize the neighbor to the north at that point.

Didn't spend much time on the truck today. I got the clutch linkage all in place, a more significant process that you'd guess because I had to fabricate a bracket for the return spring. While I was working on that an old guy rode by on a bicycle and stopped in to see what I was doing. We talked for about 15 minutes, he told me about a few of the old cars he's done, and then he rode off. Thirty minutes later he was back, this time in a very tricked out new truck with a 3-ring binder under his arm. Pictures of his builds.

This guy has some serious skills and the money to go with it. He spends summers in Colorado where he has a building that's the size of a small warehouse complete with a lift, plasma cutter, welding rigs for every conceivable need, and all the tools to go with it. The cars he turns out are gorgeous. Street rods with frenched lights, shaved doors, chapped & channeled, ....
A hobby taken to remarkable levels.
I told him the next time he comes back to bring a wrench.

I can't remember the last time I went to a movie. Years ago. But I'd make a point to go see "The Interview" despite it's bad reviews just to make a statement to the self-inflated doofus in North Korea. He's a bully who has the resources to hack a careless studio but not the brass or bones to back up his threats. It disappoints me that Sony folded. It emboldens the weenies to continue that kind of unacceptable behavior.

Pam has been called off every day so far this week because of low patient census.
This is not good on several levels.

We usually go out for dinner Thursday evenings to one of two places. We went to the other one tonight, Barro's Pizza. They make a pretty good gluten free pizza at a pretty good price. Pam eats a slice and I eat the rest. Now it's time for some dessert - brownie in a mug - and an early bedtime. I've been up since 3 a.m. Got lots done but now I'm done.
