"Some people drink from the fountain of knowledge. Others just gargle." - Robert Anthony
As I type this the Sheriff's Dept. is working a barricade situation about two miles from our house. Two guys robbed a nearby bank with what they said was a bomb. They caught one but the other ran into a double-wide and is now surrounded with enough military grade equipment to overthrow most South American countries. I've been listening to the chopper for the last couple of hours.
I was at Starbucks before 8, had my pick of tables, and settled in with my Bible software and the pages from Vine's Expository Dictionary of the NT that I'd photocopied before going up there. Three hours later I had a very rough draft.
I've been doing this for almost 41 years and I still learn stuff every time I crack open the Book.
Did you know that Matthew uses the verb "to believe" 10 times, Mark uses it 10 times, and Luke uses it nine times, while John uses it 99 times in his gospel?!
I got almost nothing done on the truck this afternoon. What was supposed to be a 20-minute operation - screwing the strike plates to the door jambs - took an hour thanks to stripped threads on the jamb. Of course it took me way too long to figure out that was the problem (it's complicated and you really don't care) so by the time I came to that realization, went to the hardware store for replacement parts, and got the driver's side plate on it was time to move to other things on the day's to-do list.
I did get six of the eight rose bushes pruned. Boy, that's a FUN job.
Poor Pam. Because of low patient count she's working three days a week, but 12-hour shifts. Then next week she'll work two days while her counterpart does three. This week she's working three consecutive days (M,T,W) and covering three floors. She walked in last night - no, she dragged herself in last night - looking totally exhausted, knowing she had to get up this morning and do it all again. And then tomorrow.
She has two good leads. One is a hospital even closer that posted an opening for the same thing she's doing now, so that should get her resume' additional attention. Then yesterday one of the women who was two or three rungs above her at the hospital before moving to a care facility also within Banner called Pam to say they had an opening if she was interested. (This gal knew Pam's hours are getting cut way back.) The decision to hire will be made up the ladder but Pam would work under this woman, so her recommendation should carry significant weight. And she wouldn't have called Pam if she wasn't interested in having her.
Praying one of these works.
