"I put a sign on each of my kids' bedrooms: 'Check out time is 18 years.'" - Erma Bombeck

Signed Copy??

This morning while sitting at Starbucks working on Sunday stuff I listened to my "Symphonic, Classical" station on Pandora. I heard a piece I wasn't familiar with and clicked over to that tab to see what it was. On the way I said to myself, "That's a movie score." You can almost always tell. Sure enough, it was, but not one I was familiar with. "The Hours" by Phillip Glass. Nice. I may have to look that up.

From there Pandora went to music from the movie, "The Gadfly" by Shostakovich that sounded like a cello concerto. Equally evocative, and made me stop working on my slide presentation to just listen.

A great two-fer!

Pam regularly bakes something for me to have as dessert with my evening cup of coffee, my typical 8 p.m. snack. It's something paleo, usually involves chocolate (paleo version), and satisfies my modest sweet tooth. You'd be surprised at the good stuff she comes up with that doesn't have either sugar or regular flour as an ingredient.
But with her most recent work rotation - a 12-hour shift M,T,W - she hasn't had time to do any baking, and I'd consumed the brownies she made last week. So on her way home last night she stopped at a bakery somewhere and got me a maple bar.
Paleo cheat.
I'd forgotten just how well a maple bar pairs with a hot cup of coffee.

Kurt Warner is a local hero both for his success with the Cardinals and his community work then and since. He and his wife are genuinely good people quietly doing some very gracious stuff, and you'll look hard to find anyone criticizing them.

One of the local news stations set up a competition between Kurt and a local 5-year old to see who could pick the most accurate March Madness bracket sheet. On last night's news broadcast they showed a back-and-forth clip of each making their selections and, in some cases, giving their reasoning.
The 5-year old picked Butler in one of the rounds (don't remember which), and when asked why he liked Butler he grinned sheepishly and said, "Because they have 'butt' in their name."
Makes sense to me.

Pam and I used a gift card we were given for Christmas to have dinner at Outback. I looked at that menu and realized I have no idea the difference between one cut of steak and another. Prime rib, sirloin, tenderloin....
We both had salmon.
