"I had to live in the desert before I could understand the full value of grass in a green ditch." - Ella Maillart

Here's a shot of the inside of MoHo, from the middle of the living room looking into the kitchen. You can't tell from this pic but the linoleum is pretty shabby looking so I'll put down new vinyl. I've recently learned that they've changed the way they make vinyl sheet goods. You can still buy the stuff with a heavy paper backing but most of it is now backed by a fiberglass layer which makes the installation process a lot easier. Instead of spreading adhesive over the entire floor, putting down the vinyl, and then rolling it out with an 80 lb. roller (rented from Home Depot) you can use this trick double-stick tape that's about 4" wide. Clean the existing linoleum thoroughly, put tape around the perimeter and a a couple of strips down the middle, lay down the new stuff...and you're done! I've done it the old way and it is NO fun (the fumes don't help), so I'm looking forward to this new method.

That sculptured carpet has to go and will be replaced by something simple and serviceable from Lowe's or H.D. We don't plan on living in MoHo long enough to do anything more than inexpensive on all these renovations. One of the two H.D's in Eugene has a rental center where I can get the knee kicker and stretcher for the day. I'm not real good at laying carpet, but I'm good enough for this project.

Don't you love the mirrors!

The paneling....
I'll take some drywall mud and fill the vertical grooves, prime the entire wall, and then paint. I did that at our first Michigan house and unless you look closely it will pass for painted drywall, and it brightens the place up. We'll get rid of the curtains, too. The view outside should not be covered up, it will make the room feel bigger and let in the light, and privacy isn't an issue. You can't see another structure from any side of MoHo except dear Fred. The neighbors are all on the other side of a whole bunch of Douglas Fir trees.
I may even get fancy and trim out the windows so it looks less like a 70's MoHo.

At Starbucks this morning, a guy in his mid-20's with an infant, one of those tricked out strollers complete with cell phone holder, and a semi-auto pistol hanging from a belt holster.
Why??
The kind of guy who goes around town packing a pistol on his belt is the kind of guy who scares me, even if it is legal in this sometimes scary state.

I had a video chat with friend Geoff this afternoon. But it was morning for him because he's in the village of Mibu in Papua New Guinea. Pretty cool.

I have extra work to do for Sunday's worship service because the Kuceras, who do our music, whill be out of town. So I'm headed over to Keynote and iTunes to get that project checked off.
