"Alimony is like buying hay for a dead horse." - Groucho Marx
Today is Barbara Bush's 90th birthday and they did a segment about her on the NBC news. What a classy lady.
Hillary Clinton addressed via telephone a convention of fast food workers yesterday. She told them she supports their push for a $15 an hour pay rate. "No man or woman who works hard to feed American families should have to be on food stamps to feed their own family."
While we're on the distaff side, on my way to the gym I heard the second half of an NPR story about female-centric movies out of Hollywood. The point: there aren't may of them. I think the reporter said he tallied up 31 movies over the last 30 years that had a woman as the primary character, and he included movies like Fatal Attraction and Disney animations featuring females in his list. In other words, he was generous. But, he said, there are several out already this year and more on the way, albeit more Disney flicks in that number.
I confess to being slightly confused. We're not supposed to pay women differently, have male professions, or consider gender when electing leaders (and I'm on board with all of that!) but we keep tally of the lead in a movie. Doesn't that seem odd?
I spent almost two hours trying to get the truck's hood alignment right. The two hinges each have five screws that go on three different planes, way too many permutations in my opinion. I think I have it as good as it's gonna get, but I might feel differently in the morning.
I also got the new headlight switch wired in and some black knobs swapped out for chrome. Didn't want to do that - black is old school - but availability of black for some of the switches isn't there and I don't want to mix black and chrome.
It's been a long day that started at 1:30 a.m.
Did you know there's a show on in the middle of the night that sells something - I didn't go to it so I don't know what - with the title "Can't Sleep?" Isn't the answer to that question pretty obvious when it's on at that hour of the morning?
I'm going to have a cup of coffee, some cookies left over from yesterday's church social, and go to bed. I'm zonked!
