"Anybody can win - unless there happens to be a second entry." - George Ade

Even if your voice isn't clearly recorded, when your first sentence begins, "This is a vital call...."
it isn't.
In the same category, a compliment in the first half of a sentence is worthless when it's followed by "but..."

112 here today. We've been above 110 every day since June 15 and will be until next Monday if the forecast is correct.
In Elmira they got up to 87 today.

Nobody is happier about the Supreme Court's ruling than the Republican candidates for President. Right behind them is any Republican holding national office. Together their uttering a silent, "whew!" that they're not going to be pressed to come up with an alternative.
But don't think for a minute that they're going to back off of their criticism of Obamacare.

After leaving the house at 3:30 this morning to get Pam to the airport in time for her 6:00 flight and eating some b'fast all by myself (the tune in your head?) I started to work on the floor in the guest room. I emptied out all the furniture, pulled up the carpet and pad, and removed the tack strip.
I hate that stuff. Whoever invented it was evil.
I had lunch with Josh W. and then went to the nearby Lumber Liquidators to buy some cheap laminate flooring. Hoped to get cheap, but the best I could do was the same stuff we bought to install in MoHo, which is only cheap. They didn't have any at that location so I drove to their other store downtown to pick it up.
I'll install it tomorrow and put everything back in place. The carpet in there was stained and an eyesore so this will have that room looking consistent with the rest of the house. That will be the last of the major to-do items; everything else falls into the category of cleaning and freshening.

On the way home I stopped at U-Haul to reserve a 4'x8' enclosed trailer I'll pick up on 7/7 for my drive back up to OR. I'll take my tools - everything I don't think I'll need here - and odds and ends like books and what "winter" clothes we own. Everything I get in that trailer I don't have to load into a truck later. We'll be getting rid of about 75% of what we own so it will be a pretty small truck.

The doctrinal statement of the AME Church is a fascinating document that was clearly written with a view to reject several of the tenets of the Roman Catholic Church. Taken as a whole it is clearly evangelical, and not very Methodist.
I don't know how accurately that doctrinal statement reflects the current position of any particular AME congregation. But I do know that no one could represent the Christian values of grace, forgiveness, and trust in God's goodness any better than the people of Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC.
I'm impressed, and humbled.

I watched some of the first round of the NBA draft, mostly to see who the Phoenix Suns took with their #13 pick.
I thought gold bling was passe'. Nope. Including gold chains with big medallions.
Mr. T must be pleased.

Thursday night is PBS night at our house. Father Brown followed by Scott & Bailey, both British. Good stuff.
Too bad I'm watching it alone (sniff, sniff)
