We're back in Sun City, AZ. At 5 p.m. it's 113 degrees with 6% humidity and 20 mph winds. If you wonder what that feels like go get a hair dryer, turn it on high, and point it at your face.
If we were still at our place outside of Elmira, OR we'd be eating dinner on the deck where it's 83 degrees (unseasonably warm), with 28% humidity and a 6 mph breeze.
We got home about 9:45 this morning, not quite 25 hours after leaving MoHo. I really struggled staying awake on this trip and my standard 30 minute naps were each an hour long. We stopped in Grants Pass OR for lunch and Blythe CA for breakfast hoping that getting out of the car and consuming vast quantities of caffeine would revive me. Nope. Just meant that before and after my nap I was desperate for a bathroom. And every 75 miles thereafter. But we're home, will have the laundry done by tomorrow morning, and after a good night's sleep I hope to be back to full consciousness.
Our place up there is far enough out that our neighbors said internet comes via CenturyLink. But when I called them an hour ago my conversation with the guy included an "Oh crap!" (from him). It seems their cable out there is old enough that they are only allowed to put so many people on it; after that the signal strength is too degraded for everyone. We're on the wrong side of that limit line. Our only other option is satellite internet through DishTV, but when I called them I got the same Indian lady with the thick accent who answers the phone when I call Wells Fargo, Allstate, and our electric provider. (How does she do that??) She said we had a bad connection so I decided to hang up and call later when I'm not this tired. Maybe then I can get the guy from India who's a little easier to understand.

It's easier to build a website than a church
I'd done some internet searching and we decided to attend Cascade Presbyterian Church in Eugene last Sunday. There are several Presbyterian denominations and this church looked to be at the evangelical end of that spectrum. They have S.S. classes, including an adult class, at 9:15 and their worship service at 10:30, so we left in time to be there right at 9:15.
I found it easily using our Garmin, so we actually arrived at 9:10, and if first impressions are critical ... we have a problem. It takes work to have a brown lawn in Oregon, but it fit with the general condition of the church's exterior.
Not a single car in the parking lot. Five minutes before things start and not one car.
But there was a guy standing there. He was wearing worn jeans, a really worn black T-shirt, and a bright red satin bow tie. And a big smile!
I rolled down my window and asked him what was going on. He said he was just waiting for church to start. "The pastor won't let me in until more people arrive. But he's a really good guy."
We left. Drove to a Starbucks where I used my laptop and bookmark menu to find Grace Community Fellowship. Their second service didn't start until 11:00 so we drove there, parked in the far corner of their lot and relaxed for an hour until it was time.
I'll tell you about GCF tomorrow night.
For now, Pam's made some brownies, I'm gonna brew me a cup of coffee, and after that I'm headed to BED.

Check these guys out. Fixed wireless or point-to-point wireless would be better than satellite. Most satellite services cap your usage. Point-to-point is usually pretty fast and will not cap service. There might be some other providers in the area, I found this one with a simple Google search.
Good luck!

Thanks, Craig. I checked them out and a "clear line of sight" is req'd between the antenna and their tower. I can't imagine I'd have that. We're far enough out, and on a lot with TALL fir trees that we don't have a line of sight anywhere except straight up. I'm assuming their tower is going to be in Eugene, and the west side of the city is 15 miles away. But I'll call them later.
Ahhh..."Disk Drive". That took me a minute.
Good point; they usually put these towers on mountains close by. Hopefully that is the case there. I've never heard anything good about Satellite service.
