"People who get offended when I breastfeed in public need to get over it. What I'm doing is natural and it strengthens the bond between me and my cat."
Some of the best people I know are of average intelligence, only moderately successful, and have no noteworthy achievements on their C.V. They don't even have a C.V. All they do is get up in the morning and with faithfulness accomplish their assigned tasks to the best of their ability. I'm blessed to know some truly remarkable people with outsized intellects who have achieved notoriety in their field, and I find their company tremendously stimulating. But the measure of a person is their character, and that can't be judged by anything on a resume.
So this isn't meant to denigrate my friends at the top of their class, all of whom are really good people (which is why I'm drawn to our friendship). But as I sat in Starbucks this morning working on a sermon about stewardship for the first Sunday I'm in Costa Rica my mind went to those I am privileged to call friends who are average on the outside and virtuous on the inside.
May their tribe increase.
And while I was at Starbucks, with my Pandora "Symphonic, Classical" station streaming through my ear buds, I was pulled up short by Tchaikovsky's Andante Cantablile for cello in D major. Too beautiful.
I finished the storage bed today except for the end panel, which I'll make tomorrow. The drawer hardware that Pam chose will arrive on Monday. I'm pleased with the way it turned out, but if I had it to do over again I'd make a bench jig to insure the drawers were square. A couple of them aren't, so I put them on the top row where they'll be covered by the bedspread.
The plan is to use that center hollow to store our luggage and other misc. stuff that's now up in the attic. I'll tie a string to the handle of each suitcase, push them all the way back in there, and fish them out when they're needed.
The box you see there now holds the rear bumper for the truck.
Tiny house living means everything has at least two purposes. In this case it's using the otherwise wasted space under a bed for things that normally go in a dresser(s). By doing that a bedroom can be smaller; no floor space is req'd for the dressers.
We meet with our realtor next Tuesday to sign the papers that will put our house on the market.
It's getting closer.
Alexis de Tocqueville said, "In a democracy people get the government they deserve."
That Donald Trump is leading in the polls says scary things about the American electorate.
He makes me think about P.T. Barnum.
