"Lead us not into temptation. Just tell us where it is; we'll find it." - Sam Levenson
We leave for Oregon three weeks from today and there is SO much to be done.
I spent the day working on the truck bed and hope to finish it tomorrow. The instructions are all pretty poorly written text, no pictures, and I'm a show me kind of guy, so I'm figuring it out as I go. I also got all four shocks, which was more than just go to the store and buy 'em. Because I had the springs de-arced 2" I had to take measurements to the parts guy who then spent 1/2 hour looking through his book to find front and rears that had the right travel dimensions. They came in late today so I've got them waiting, too.
The goal is to get the truck ready to drive onto a hauler. If it can also be driven down the street, fine, but that would be gravy. To get to that minimum state I have to finish the bed, get the side windows and install them, and fix the passenger door so it can be latched. (Don't ask.) I'd also like to get it out for the exhaust system install.
Samuel's sixth birthday was last week and Sofia's eighth was yesterday. They're two years apart just like our sons, and their folks have a single party for them somewhere close to each b'day. Today was that day, and I missed it. Sadness.
Last night their mom, Silvia, sent me a message with part of a conversation they had yesterday:
Samuel: I will build a plane and I will bring Pastor Craig to our birthday party in the plane.
Sofia: Bring his wife with him because he missed her a lot last week.
Yeah, they're sweet kids and we got pretty close.
We got to 106 today but the humidity is back in the teens so it didn't feel too bad. And it cools off enough at night now that we can open the doors and windows by 3 a.m. We have the AC set at 80, so when it drops to about 75 or so I turn it off, open everything up, and set a fan in the open front door blowing in. I don't think it cools the house off much but after four months closed up it's nice to get fresh air circulating.
Are we about to be done with Donald Trump? New polls come out next week and I'm cautiously optimistic. If he wants to continue to spend his own wealth on a campaign I'm fine with that. "A fool and his money...."
The French press I got for brewing my Costa Rica coffee makes three cups. I drink two in the morning and save one for the evening. The tour guide at the Britt place said to NEVER reheat coffee because it...I don't remember what the disastrous outcome is but my dull palate doesn't notice any deterioration. So I'm gonna go have a cup of really good joe and some desert to go along with it. Then bed so I can be up early in the morning to work on the truck some before church.
