It's late (by my standards), I'm tired, so just a few brief, odd thoughts from the day:
- Robin, the Forestry Service lady, is coming back tomorrow morning and bringing the OR State Entomologist with her. Should be interesting!
- I've got the drywall in Fred's loft all sanded and ready for texture. I'll do that tomorrow. The end of Fred's rehab is in sight.
- We went to "Taco Tuesday" at the Noti Pub for dinner tonight. Big soft shell tacos are $1.50 each, with a container of sour cream and of salsa for 25 cents each. Pam has one taco (chicken) and I have two (chicken and beef), add drinks and those condiments, and we're out of there for under $11 including tip.
- Corey Lewandowski, Trump's just-fired campaign manager, was said to be responsible for the "let Trump be Trump" strategy. Does that mean we're now going to get the hypocritical artificial Trump?
- I'm watching this. It will probably go for way above my (low) ceiling, but this is a great little car. We had a '72 Datsun 510 when we were newlyweds and they're great, bullet-proof little cars that are fun to drive. That's why most of them around today have either rusted badly or been heavily modified for rally racing. The fact that this is a 4-door (ours was, too) may keep the price down some, but I'm not optimistic.
- Sometimes the coffee shop were I go to write in the morning is populated by the same half-dozen regulars. This morning it was crowded with four or five more locals, three of whom were there on motorcycles. One of the guys arrived on his very nice, new Yamaha road bike. The other two, older guys, came on big full-dress Harley's. When I was ready to leave I stopped by and talked to the Yamaha guy about his bike while the Harley guys were comparing notes about their repair bills. As I was leaving I quieted my voice and said to the Yamaha guy, "Never ride a Harley further than you're willing to walk back." Apparently I didn't lower my voice enough. Ooops.
- This morning Pam took her dog out for his morning constitutional and surprised a doe and her fawn just down from MoHo. It startled them and they took off toward the creek, running right through my Marion Berry vines. It turns out bird netting is also hard for them to see, but not hard for them to shred when moving at speed.
- Sheffler road, one of the rural roads we take to get to get to the Noti Pub, has some really cool, really small old houses that look like they date to the 50's on nice wooded lots. I'd sure like to get a peek inside some of them to see the floor plan.
G'night.
