"I've been on so many blind dates I should get a free dog." - Wendy Liebman

We're halfway through the req'd public notification period for the logging of our trees. I don't know how long it will be beyond that point next Friday before Charles begins cutting because a written plan still has to be submitted to the State Dept. of Forestry.
Because I'm listed on the permit application as the operator I'm getting all the official mail related to the operation. Today that included a notification about fire control methods and equipment that must be on site during the cutting.
As a result of this infested tree business I've learned a lot about beetles, logging, and today, woodland fire suppression. I now know what a pulaski is, along with the hootowl shift, and a hazel hoe. Looking up one new term leads to a string of other new terms, like bucking, billets and bolts.
I'd rather be ignorant and keep the trees.

Neither Pam nor I accomplished anything of significance today. We pretty much did the veggie routine. It started when I turned on coverage of the Tour de France this morning, which turned out to be a dramatic stage. From there to the coverage of the Open, being played in Scotland. We're both Phil Mickelson fans and he's at the top of the leaderboard, so that held or attention, as did the craziness that is golf in Scotland. Between the weather and pot bunkers it's pretty entertaining TV.

I spent a little time working on the truck, cleaning it up before it goes in for a new transmission in two weeks. I want it looking as good as possible when Leroy gets it so he knows it's something I care about.

We never got above 65 F today and only saw the sun for about 30 minutes. It felt like a fall day. So Pam made toasted cheese sandwiches for lunch and I'm ready for that last cup of coffee left over from this morning. And brownies.

No activity makes for a short post.
