"The best way out is always through." - Robert Frost.

This made me smile.

This morning at 4 a.m. I watched a video on Facebook of JR arriving home to their place in WA from a 6-month deployment and his ~3-year old son running into his arms to greet him. What a way to start a day!
Wet eyes.

By 8:00 I'd also finished a revision of the Christmas letter and then baked 6 dozen snickerdoodles. And fed the goats. And gave Dolly a dose of probiotic to (hopefully) cure her scours.
Goats don't like getting force-fed probiotic. Dolly is already skittish and just in the last week is to the point where she'll let me touch her. Now this. Oh well. The good news: goats are just about the dumbest animals on a farm (second only to sheep), so she'll forget about this in a day or two and be back to her normal paranoia. In fairness, if I had two 150 lb. does (outweigh Dolly by about 100 lbs.) trying to drive me into the barn wall I'd be skittish, too.

If you're a regular here you probably notice I put our Christmas letter up as a post. And you know how much was left out of that brief synopsis.
Some of it shouldn't really be disseminated.

Marta came and got Sundae this afternoon so Sundae can be put in with a buck. Some goats are really obvious when they're in heat but not Sundae. Marta says she'll put her in with a group of does with a buck on the other side of the fence and it will be clear if/when she's in heat. They'll be romancing each other through the fence. Put 'em together and call it done.

We'll leave about 4 a.m. tomorrow for the drive up to Seattle. It normally takes us 6 hours but I expect tomorrow's drive to be closer to 8 hours because of holiday traffic. Nothing to do about it but endure.

Dad got the OK today from his surgeon to put full weight on his repaired hip. I'm not sure what that means about returning to their unit at the ida Culver House but I'm assuming it means they'll cut him loose from the rehab unit, maybe this weekend. Should they get some help from one of the agencies that comes in to provide assistance with daily tasks? That will probably be discussed.
I've prayed for wisdom re. any part I have in a family conversation, including the wisdom to be quiet.

NFL players have the right to kneel, sit, or stand on their heads during the national anthem.
I have the right to stop watching NFL games in response to what I perceive to be disrespect.
The U.N. has the right to denounce the U.S. for recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
The U.S. has the right to withhold funds from some or all of that body's budget.
(I hope we do. I think we've given that organization way too much money for way too long and seen way too little bang for our mega-bucks.)

I gotta go pack for our trip. And if I can stay awake I may spend some time looking over what I've rec'd back from my readers.
