"He who angers you conquers you." - Elizabeth Kenny

I met with Aly this morning and we worked through some details to produce a final version of the cover. This afternoon I sent the cover and the text file to CreateSpace, Amazon's self-publishing portal. It's now going through their review process which they say typically takes 24 hours. Once that's done I *think* I order a free physical copy so I can make sure everything is exactly like it should be. Then....click Publish!
I then click on a link that takes me to KDP, the portal for publishing on Kindle. Click a few buttons over there and it appears on that format, both available instantly.

Baxter Plumbing is showing up tomorrow morning between 8 and 8:30 to install a toilet I bought in Phoenix at Sam's Club and brought home with me. I'm almost a full year late with what was supposed to be Pam's birthday present last February.
MoHo has The. Shortest. Toilet. ever made anywhere in the world. Sitting on it is like squatting over a cho in Africa (a hole in the ground with no seat of any kind) and getting up qualifies as an air squat in Crossfit. This new toilet is listed as ADA compliant and is called "comfort height." That's what's in mom's unit where she lives and it is SO much nicer. It will take us some time to get used to. When we're at mom's and I go to the bathroom I'm always surprised at how quickly my bottom hits the seat.

Note: I would normally install a toilet myself. I've done it many times and it's not difficult. But this toilet isn't bolted to the floor because the bolts have completely rusted away leaving gravity the only thing holding the toilet in place. I fully expect that what's called the closet flange underneath the floor is also rusted. I can begin the job of removal and installation only to discover problems that I'll spend hours figuring out, finding the parts for, and making the repairs. Or I can pay a plumber to arrive with all the parts already on his truck and the experience to know what needs repair and how to do it.
I'll pay him. Gladly.

We've only rec'd about 1/4" of rain today, not the 1.3" they predicted. And the wind didn't really blow like they said, either. But from what I've read it's still coming, just later than they thought. So tonight might bring a downpour.

Isn't it interesting how we project upon others qualities and characteristics that we imagine them to have, sometimes without any basis in reality? This only applies to people we know casually. Those we know well have, through a stock of interactions with them, given us a subconscious bank of information we use to understand them more or less accurately. But when it comes to people with whom we don't have regular contact we build an imaginary persona that responds to things as we imagine they would, prefer that they would.
Or am I the only one who does that?
I think about someone having certain personality characteristics and reacting to situations in ways that fit my preconceptions of them. Either favorable or unfavorable.
OK, it's just me.
Moving on....
..............................
I went over to our usual pizza joint and ordered our usual pizza: small thin-crust with pineapple, pepperoni, and BACON. But because we're always there together I got, "Where's your wife?"
I like that. I like that people are used to seeing us together.

The rain has picked up and if it continues at this rate we'll make up for what we didn't get during the day.

When we go away for any length of time I turn off the water heater. Because we rarely use the furnace and the fridge is on regardless the water heater is the single biggest reason our electric bill (our only utility bill) is down significantly the month we go to Phoenix. That got me to wondering if we'd save money by turning it off at night. If we did I could turn it on when I get up in the wee hours of the morning and it would be ready for showers a couple of hours later.
Would that save us money, or would heating up a tank full of water that had cooled to ambient temperature cost more than keeping it at operating temperature through the night?
