Is there a future in glass coffins? Remains to be seen.

The day's biggest news:
I replaced Sally's fuel filter and points & condenser. When I removed the old points I was pretty sure that was the problem; one of the contacts was almost entirely gone. I put in the new points, set the gap to the spec at .020", and Sally fired right up. This afternoon I took her for a drive down the hill and back and ... problem solved!
I'll have to reset the timing but that's a normal part of this procedure and will only take about 15 minutes.
The real question is why did the points fail? I replaced the distributor two months ago and it came with these points installed. Points should last years. Two possibilities: they put in the cheapest set of points available on planet earth or I was wrong to assume the came with the gap set at the proper gap. I think the latter is much more likely.
It's all OK, though. The problem's identified and solved for less than $20 and a couple of hours work. All problems should be that easy.

We were watching Live PD because it's mindless and reasonably entertaining. At one point a group of cops and fire persons (?) were working to get two teenagers out of a stuck elevator. One of the cops looked at the camera to explain what was going on and that they were working "to exterminate" the teenagers.
When you reach for a $10 word and grab the wrong one.

During dinner we watched women's rugby on NBCSN. Crazy! If your girlfriend plays rugby you do NOT mess up anything.
The NFL could take a lesson from rugby. They don't wear pads or helmets yet play a very physical game with very few injuries. The reason? They don't wear armor that makes them feel invincible and safe doing dangerous things. Rugby players don't tackle head first because it would hurt their head, so they use their arms.
Equipment designed to make football players safer has had the opposite effect by encouraging dangerous actions.

We're thinking about our kids this weekend. Daughter (in-law) Michelle's brother fought and won a very difficult battle against pancreatic cancer and had been cancer free for almost two years. He was back to work, water skiing, and doing great. He'd been declared cancer free.
Sometime in the middle of the night Sunday he went into cardiac arrest. His wife did CPR and he coded several more times in the ambulance. He died early Tuesday morning never having regained consciousness.
Dear Michelle has gone back to Michigan for the funeral which is tomorrow (Saturday). His wife and two young daughters will have a tough time adjusting to this sudden loss at a time when they thought the worst was behind them.
Steve has stayed home to take care of their two littles. Steve & Michelle do everything as a team so it's additional stress that Michelle has to attend her brother's funeral without her other half.

What was Adam thinking????
