His last selfie.
Grandson Jason went to his first day at kindergarten today. Look closely and you may notice some red eyes on this 5-year old's face. He's a super little kid and is going to be something special when he grows up. One of the reasons for my confidence in this regard is that he got the sensitive heart of both his parents. Alas, that may give him some challenges when it comes to the new and unknown.
You got this, J.
Megan and Caedon also went (back) to school today on a date that turns out to be Megan's 16th birthday. She's starting her Junior year in H.S. (aargh!) and he's beginning 7th grade.
I remember the phone call that came in the middle of the night telling us we had our first grandchild, a little girl. She's now an impressive young lady and Caedon is a ton of fun.
And though this pic doesn't show it accurately he's taller than his sister who is almost four years older.
Here's another pic of something I brought home from my trip to Seattle and the task of going through much of the folks' stuff. Dad used an electric razor for as long as I can remember but this was among his things so at some point he must have used a blade. This blade in this razor.
No, I don't feel anything mystical, it's just cool. Do they make them like this anymore? Look closely and you'll see the dial on the handle that moves the blade relative to the razor's outer edge giving a closer or...safer? shave. And that plastic case holds spare blades.
It now sits on a shelf in our bathroom next to an old fashioned cup and bristle brush for making shaving cream out of the powder bought at a drug store.
On this date in 1971 Apollo 15 returned to earth. It was the first trip to the moon that made use of the lunar rover.
On planet earth this happened:
Pam was 19 and I was 20. Because she was raised there we had a Vegas wedding but even there our young age required that our parents sign the marriage license.
I think we were both immature even for our young ages and altogether naive about what we were doing. Thus, it is sure and certain evidence IMO that God is gracious and overriding. Here we are 47 years later still married. Lots of ups and down, lots of getting it right and getting it wrong, some smart moves and some really dumb moves (at least on my part). But we're still married, enjoying life and each other, laughing lots and crying some, and very thankful for God's care.
So far we don't have any plans to celebrate the occasion. We'll probably just stay home. Life on Baker Rd. is as good as anything we'd find going out.
