Have I used this before?
Miserable.
And it doesn't go away when you come inside until you've been there for quite a while.
My brain is consumed by sermon prep. I know how upset I'll be with myself if I don't do (what I consider) a good job at communicating the truth and implications of this passage.
Sermon prep is a bizarre combination of eager anticipation and fear.
We need an adjectival/adverbial form of equanimity.
Equanomous?
On the way home at noon today I stopped at Coastal Feed downtown to check the options and prices for deer fencing around the garden. I learned I put my poles too far apart for my best fencing option. That option is a plastic fence in black that's similar to the orange fencing you see at some construction sites. Instead of 4" squares it's almost a mesh. Maybe 1" squares. And it's 7' tall.
But because it's nylon it will stretch, which means my poles shouldn't be more than a maximum 8' apart. I've got some that are 12' apart.
So this weekend I'll figure out how many poles I have to add, dig those holes, and go back to Jerry's to get them.
The good news: the fencing comes in 100' roles. Before dinner I measured the circumference of the garden and came up with 97'. Whew!!
It looks like the list of Democratic challengers could rival the GOP lineup from 2016. And we saw how that turned out.
I don't feel at all good about my sermon. I've got it written - as much as I write any sermon - but it's a long way from ready. And this is why I want it "done" by noon Thursday, so I can chew it for two solid days. It's supposed to rain pretty constantly with dropping temps through to Tuesday morning so I'll hunker down with a pot of coffee and work this thing until it's ready.
I signed up for the free Portuguese course on PortuguesesPod101. The first lesson wasn't really a lesson but a short video on why I should learn Portuguese: it's a really big country, I can more easily get a job there if I speak their language, and the people are friendly. But only 7% of them speak English so if I want to make a lot of money or have a lot of fun there I should learn their language.
OK, I don't really care why they think I should learn Portuguese, I just want them to teach me some basic words and phrases.
We had dinner but I'm still hungry. I'm going to make a PB&J, heat up some coffee, and then add a cinnamon roll to the snack. Then we'll watch one of the PBS shows we recorded while on our AZ trip. Maybe Wallander, or Inspector Linley.
