"It's easy to make a buck. It's a lot harder to make a difference." - Tom Brokaw

It's 4 a.m. Wednesday morning and it feels like 8 p.m. at night. No, not because it's dark outside, but because I feel like the end of a day, not the beginning.
I didn't post Monday or Tuesday because there wasn't time. I knew this would be a busy week with my regular work plus preaching Sunday morning and evening. I also had/have a couple of extra "meetings." But I didn't expect it to be like this.
Teaching, especially like last night's class, leaves me exhausted and the next day is a "hangover."

Last night's class went well....sort of. The topic was Historical Theology, which is another way of saying the study of the church and its development through history. Or "church history." I raced, we did 2,000 years of church history in 62 minutes (I went 2 minutes over), and I offended at least one person.
"I feel like there's a lot of bashing of Catholicism going on. And I know Catholics who ...."
Uhm, it's pretty hard to talk about church history from about AD 350 to the 20th cent. and not bash the R.C. church. See: Gal. 1:8-9. Or read about the Counter Reformation. Or look up the name William Tyndale. So yes, I was pretty hard on the R.C. church and its leadership, but not nearly as hard as Martin Luther.
Oregon.

I baked brownies and ginger snaps. I took this tray plus another dozen brownies on a separate plate.

People seemed to have liked both. I got several compliments and brought home:
There were 34 people at class last night. You do the math.

This morning is the weekly staff meeting and then I'll get to focused work on my sermon. I started my Sunday a.m. class prep yesterday and have another 5-6 hours of work on that, too.
Dolly is due to kid on the 17th of June so it's time for her CD-T shot and hoof trimming - what Marta calls her "spa day."
The areas around the fruit trees and the coop are in serious need of weed whipping.
I decided Sally's trunk needs a skim coat of bondo. I'm pretty sure I'd get a bad result if I painted with the slightly uneven bare metal. So I figure an hour or two to apply the bondo and then a few hours of sanding, but I think the results will be well worth the additional time.

Pam was in Grand Rapids to visit her mom the first week in April. She got back from Phoenix Monday night after 10 days with the kids. She's going back to Grand Rapids the third week of June.
Yuck.
But I agree it's the right thing to do. The circumstances are such that her presence there is a priority so we just have to deal with it. I don't like the extra tasks but what I really don't like is not having her around.
Family.

OK, it's now 4:45 and time for me to get moving. I'm going to hit "Publish" and go shower. Then fix b'fast. Feed and walk the dog, feed the cats, goats and the chickens. Photocopy the pages on Ps. 3 from a couple of commentaries, and head into the office. Hwy 126 is down to one lane from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. so if I want to avoid the alternate route that adds 15 minutes to the commute I need to leave before 6:30.

Here we go!
