It's 8:15 and I've been sitting in Dizzy's Donuts for an hour with a cinnamon roll (yummmm), hot black coffee, and my sermon outline. I'll keep cogitating on it (the sermon) for the rest of today and very early tomorrow morning, praying that it makes some sense and resonates when it comes out of my mouth about 10:45 tomorrow morning.
Last time I went from teaching my 8:30 class to preaching a sermon in the worship service I didn't feel like I did a good job teaching. My head was in sermon mode. My goal tomorrow is be fully where I am and give both my full attention. That was easy when I did both every Sunday, but now that I only preach a couple of times a year that task looms larger in my mind.
I've got to stop now at Lowe's on my way home to get a paint tray and at the feed store to get the CD-T vaccine for Dolly. Then I'll put the first coat of three on Sally's trunk lid. I think I may be able to get all three coats on today but if it rains like they predict the humidity may be too high for good drying between coats.
In between coats I'll bake the cookies for Tuesday night's class, maybe trim Stella & Frenchie's hooves, and watch the Monaco F1 qualifying that I recorded in the middle of the night.
A short run in there somewhere? I've had too many "cheats" this week and need to get back on the exercise wagon. I haven't done much since the surgery procedure on my back and I can sure tell. My weight doesn't change much but my shape does.
I was surprised to read an article on USAToday.com that asked the question, why is the abortion debate focusing so much on cases of rape and incest when they only account for 1% and .5% of pregnancies respectively?
They never really gave an answer, but it's obvious to me. It's an appeal to the "righteous indignation" of those may not have decided about abortion. Focus on victims of horrible crimes instead of the 98.5% of women who get an abortion for reasons of personal convenience.
OK, off to Lowe's. I'll be back later today, maybe with a pic of the first or second coat applied.
Home now. At 10:30 I have the primer sanded with 220 and the first coat of color on. I like it!! Assuming I get a good layer of color and can wet sand & buff to a gloss, this is going to look gooood.
Facebook showed me this from one year ago today. Sundae gave birth to triplets, our first three-peat. Sadly, one died and the black one went to Marta as "stud fee". The third, Donut, tasted good.
About 8 months after this pic we had to put Sundae down. Her malformed jaw meant teeth that didn't line up which in turn was causing problems. Teeth on her upper jaw were cutting into her lower gums which made it painful for her to eat, even the special beet-pulp mash we fed her. She was losing weight and strength, a downward curve that was only going to get worse. And she was old enough that she had one more kidding at the most left in her so putting her down was the wise and appropriate move.
She was a good momma.
Did 1.5 miles just before lunch. To say I ran it would be a generous description of my pace, but I didn't walk any of it and I expected to.
That's the first exercise since my melanoma procedure and resultant problems with healing. Now I MUST get back on track. I suspended my gym membership for May to save the $ when the dr. said I had to restrict the movement of my right arm so I can't go back there for another week. But there's plenty of exercise I can get - simple calisthenics - here at home. It's just a matter of self discipline.
And staying away from my own baking.
Someone born in Monaco is called a Monegasque. Someone born elsewhere and now living in Monaco is called a Monacoian.
Both of those are weird.
I have no idea what you call someone from Eugene. Eugenian? Eugenite? Liberal?
It's 7 p.m. and I just came in from putting on the third coat. I'll put at least one more on and probably two before I start wet sanding. Assuming the orange peel sands out - and it should - I'm going to be happy with the price and the product. This pic is a bit unclear, but you can see that the color is good and it shines. That will get even better with wet sanding and buffing.
First, a "before":
And now, after three coats:
A bit better, huh?
I think Sally's going to look good when she's all painted. It's a brighter red but I think it pops and will look good with the chrome trim.
And the price is sure right!
