"If the Phone Doesn't Ring, It's Me" - Jimmy Buffett, song title
My morning routine includes checking a number of news sites, including the NBC affiliate in Grand Rapids, MI where we lived for 17 years before moving to AZ. Today's headline was the weather. They were at 57 degrees at midnight and will drop to 30 degrees by 9 p.m. It's the only place I've ever lived where the temp can go down like that when the sun comes up - in this case 27 degrees over the course of a day.
Winter arrives in west Michigan.
Here in Phoenix we'll be 10 degrees warmer than yesterday with a high of 70, and near 80 tomorrow.
Mike D'Antoni in Phoenix: FAIL.
Mike D'Antoni in New York: FAIL.
Mike D'Antoni in L.A.: _____
The Mike D'Antoni alphabet: ABCEFG....
My fantasy subs, in because four of my strongest starters had a bye week, over performed and put up BIG numbers. Alas, not big enough. Tuesday morning brings updated league standings and I will almost certainly surrender second place.
You can probably waste a few minutes here.
Josh admitted to an "I hate myself for saying that" moment yesterday while we were at lunch. In trying to encourage Megan re. submission and obedience to authority he said, "When she (the teacher) says jump, you be in the air asking how high."
The words were no sooner out of his mouth than he realized he was indeed the next in a string of MacDonalds.
But it's OK. His daughter will use it one day, too.
John McAfee of anti-virus software fame (the company is now owned by Intel) is wanted for murder in his adopted country of Belize. Cops there say he shot his neighbor with whom he'd been feuding. Apparently McAfee has been known to use some pretty serious hallucinogens over the last few years, cooking up his own concoctions using jungle plants. Shrooms gone wild.
Have an elder meeting tonight. We have some things to work through but we'll do it with our usual collegial spirit. I'm thankful for this group of guys and they way we work together.
