Sarcasm - the body's natural defense against stupidity.
One of the reasons it bugs me to be prohibited from riding my bike for three months is that this is the ideal time of year for outdoor activities here. I don't want to spend the money that regular visits to the golf course involve and running is a problem for these hips, but biking in this weather is perfect and it's perfect weather for being outside. Aargh.
The Amaryllis only grew 1/2" over the last 24 hours after averaging almost an inch per day. I think its energy is going into the bud which is peeking open. And a second bud is starting to rise from the bulb, so we'll get a two-fer.
On ESPN this morning they showed a snippet of a roundtable discussion from sometime over the last few days in which the question posed to the panelists was, "Which team has the worst QB situation in the NFL?" The consensus: the Arizona Cardinals. We used to have Kurt Warner. Lo, how the mighty are fallen.
On this day in History....
I read that section on the Wikipedia home page this morning and followed the link to this article on the largest non-nuclear explosion in history. I'd never heard of it. I found this account both fascinating and chilling. Hard to believe the damage, both to property and human life, caused by one ship.
I just got a Facebook message from one of my former students. She said that I probably knew this (I did NOT) but they used to make bets about different things and the whoever lost had to ask me a really dumb question in class and risk the humiliation that came with it. What???
I'm demanding more information.

I remember Jeff Rachoy ducking to evade what he thought was an eraser being thrown at him, it was a cassette tape and Jennifer Terbeek got it in the face.....all because he asked a "stupid" question.
BTW, this was hands down my favorite class at GBC, and the one from which I have retained the most.
Stacey
I don't *think* I ever threw an eraser for anything but the stipulated offense (answering a question asked of another student) but if anybody was going to get it for "stupid" it would have been Jeff Rachoy.
Poor Jen. She's the last person to deserve anything like that.
I had an eraser thrown at me a couple times. lol. That was a fun class.
