Maybe hot chocolate wants to be called beautiful chocolate just one time.

I have great respect for Dr. Carson, but I also have questions about his qualifications to be our president. I'd be comfortable with him cutting into my brain but I'm not so sure about turning over the country's international and domestic car keys. I am, however, intrigued by his proposal to create a cradle-to-grave HSA funded by an annual $2k allotment from the federal govt. I could see it spawning a new industry, probably populated by the insurance companies, that would line up at our doors to manage that HSA, but in general I think people and private enterprise to better than the feds at running things.

I got a call from the body shop that my truck will be done late today. They won't release it until the $550 bill is paid, and that money comes from the trucking company. So I'm going back and forth between them trying to make this happen as quickly as possible. The trucking company says they'll call the body shop and pay them directly via a credit card, but they won't do that until they have paperwork and some more photos - which I have on my computer. So at this point it should be just logistics and timing. You'll understand if I'm not getting all excited at this point.

I'm seriously bothered by the Verizon commercials I see on TV. Their background music is Zadok the Priest, by Handel. It's a powerful chorus with lyrics taken from 1 Kings 1:45; "Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anointed Solomon king." (In the commercial the lyrics are intentionally muddled.)
I realize I'm one of the .5% of Americans who recognize that music, and that's primarily because I sang it when a member of the Riverside Chorale. But it feels almost like profanity to take that piece and use it to pitch cell phones.
Isn't there a Madonna song they could have used?

Yesterday we got the all clear from the inspection of our wood stove and chimney, so now we can begin heating MoHo that way. I called yesterday to get a chord of wood delivered and he's coming tomorrow. We got down to 38 outside last night and it was 57 inside when I got up. The plan is to keep the heat set very low overnight, relying on our electric blanket, and then light a fire first thing in the morning, letting it die out about the time we're going to bed. I'm nervous about a wood fire in a mobile home when there's nobody keeping an eye on it.
The guy from the stove shop said this wood stove is WAY too big for MoHo and we need to build small fires or we'll get driven right out by the heat.

I can't find my workout 3x5's. This is a crisis, folks. I've been through all the likely boxes without success and don't know where else to look.

The last several days have been what I think is pretty normal for Oregon this time of year. It will switch between bright sun and rain several times throughout the day. Sitting in MoHo's living room looking out over our forested front yard is almost too beautiful during those sunny periods. We're up above the creek by about 12', so we're at eye level with that far up some pretty big Douglas Fir trees. The combination of sun and shade is gorgeous, especially with dark clouds off to the west just visible through the branches.
We've decided fir tree needles are part of our life 24/7. They're everywhere outside and it's inevitable that they're going to be everywhere inside.

I read something today - don't remember where. The guy said, "My goal was to find a place to live so good that I don't need a vacation to someplace else."
I think that's what we did.
