"Even Napoleon had his Watergate." - Yogi Berra

Fred's loft is now empty and ready for electrical, so I've got to figure out where I want lights and outlets. The lights part is a little tricky because at the peak it's just over 6', so putting a light there means people bopping their heads. I can probably put it up there if it goes right over where the bed will go. Or I can put lights on each end wall. Dunno yet.

The coop is done except for one 2x4 that I'll pick up tomorrow to form the second of the two roosts. I'll also get the treated lumber to make its front porch. I don't think I can get that done without Pam seeing it in progress and figuring out what I'm up to, but that's OK.

As I was typing that last paragraph the UPS truck arrived with my axles. If the 10-day forecast is to be believed it will be at least 11 days before I can lay on the ground and install them.

When I came in for lunch Pam had music on through the TV. We have Dish TV and they carry a number of Sirius music stations. Somehow she found one called Country Christmas.
Two things wrong with that picture.

Have you ever noticed that even sheet vinyl is almost always a pattern designed to make it look like real tile? Why? Why not come up with designs or patterns that could only be done on a large sheet?

Wednesday the garbage trucks come. That's plural because one of them picks up the trash and the other the recycle bin. That second one is voluntary; we're not required to separate recyclables, but it doesn't cost anymore and it's a very minor inconvenience.

In Paris they're coming to the end of the international summit on global warming which, for reasons I can't figure out, is called COP 21 and CMP 11. I'm not smart enough to know if the global is warming and if human activity is responsible for it. The arctic ice cap is shrinking but antarctic's is growing. They say the world has gone into and out of ice ages, and that was before SUV's, so it's not like global temps were stable until the industrial age. If global temps are rising and Elmira is going to be coastal property is that something that can be reversed because of what they decide at a conference in Paris?
I dunno.

We recycle because it's just the right thing to do. Like living in a tiny house (or for now, a tiny MoHo) it's about stewardship. This world isn't ours, it's God's, and this little corner of it is on loan to us. Just like when you borrow a car or a tool from someone else you should treat it well so that when you give it back it's in just as good a shape as when you received it. We shouldn't toss our trash out the car window not because it's illegal and could get us fined, but because it makes a mess of God's world. Recycling, living small and simply, repurposing - they're easy, we find them innately appealing, and they're good stewardship.

So I'm not going to take a position on global warming because it doesn't matter. Crusaders and deniers can carry one with their battle and I'll stay out of the fray. I'll recycle and live with intentional care for the environment because, as the song says, "This is my Father's world."
