"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." - R. Buckminster Fuller
Two kinds of people: those who are giddy with excitement over the new Star Wars movie coming out later this month, and those of us who could not care less. I am solidly within the latter group and just don't get what all the fuss is about. C'mon, it's another sequel, or is it prequel? Does anyone even know at this point?
Tomorrow's going to be a full day. We'll leave the house about 7:30 and head 30 minutes north to Harrisburg and The Grubstake Cafe. Their BACON is every bit as good as Nonnie's in Charleston, OR, which has the best BACON I've ever tasted. If you ever come to visit and want some "I gotta have more of that" BACON plan on a trip up to The Grubstake.
We'll go from there 5 minutes up the road to Pape's (I have no idea how to pronounce that) where they sell Stihl products, including the chainsaw my friend Bob recommended. I think our best solution for solving the heat problem begins with cutting down a couple of the dead trees on our property so we don't have to budget the cord we bought a month ago.
On the way back home we'll stop at a business in Junction City that sells windows, cheap. They have stacks and stacks of them in front of their warehouse-style business and advertise that no window costs more than $99. I think that besides being cheap they're probably cheap windows, but these are for Fred, so I'll sacrifice some quality for a good price.
After lunch we'll head into Phoenix for a babysitting job. Yep, me too.
When we had Thanksgiving dinner with that new family we offered to help out with babysitting if they needed the it, or just wanted an evening out, which led to tomorrow's gig. Robin is a doctor and Anders a stay-at-home dad who plays hockey. (They're from Minnesota and grew up in Wisconsin.) He has an opportunity to play in a game tomorrow afternoon and called to see if we could watch their two girls for that couple of hours. Ya' sure, you betcha!
On the way home we'll stop at Lowe's so I can get some of the electrical supplies I'll need to begin that stage of Fred's rehab. It started raining at 4:15 and ain't gonna stop until sometime next week...maybe. So the next few days will be about inside tasks.
My plan is to go to a Bible study at Open Door Church in Elmira tomorrow evening. One of the old guys at the coffee shop, George, is a regular and said they have some really good discussions. I told him yesterday that if I make it I want to keep my former profession under wraps. No problem.
Knowing the rain was coming I spent all day working on the coop. I got all the trim installed and the doors on. I think I may change the hinges on the chicken's door to the run and I still have to build the nest boxes, but we're nearing completion.
Time for some hot cider, a fist full of Pam's gluten-free chocolate chip cookies, and the new episode of Fixer Upper.
