"A little simplification would be the first step toward rational living, I think." - Eleanor Roosevelt

Another from friend BJ's Facebook page.

We stopped by the Veneta feed store on our way into town today planning to order our day-old chicks so we'd have them the first of March. Turns out they'll have plenty of what I want - eight Rhode Island Reds, incl. one rooster - already in stock. On the way out I noticed that they sell Wrangler jeans. Whoa!
I have trouble finding blue jeans in my size, a 30" waist and 32" length. Not only do they have that skinny-guy size, they had a 27" waist with a 36" length.
Think Manute Bol.

I didn't win the lottery, which may be due in part to my failure to buy a ticket. As a fallback I'm going to start a pool on what Republican candidates will drop out, in what order, and when. You pay $5 per entry and the person who comes closest to predicting the details of those departures wins it all.
Figuring out who has the winning entry based on those three criteria will require some pretty tricky computations.
So I guess I'll pass on that one, too.

I like days that include mental stimulation. This was a good day. I'm working several issues, from rehabbing Fred, to trips overseas to teach, to some theological issues.
It was a good day.
And then I watched the Republican debate.

Remember the children's prayer:
Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.

We stayed at Steve & Michelle's when we were in AZ last weekend and enjoyed their bedtime routine with Jason. It includes saying that prayer together, but with a last line just a tad less...scary.

Lord be with me through the night, and keep me 'til the morning light.

Why couldn't they have had a nice line like that when I was a kid instead of filling me with a holy fright that I was going to croak before dawn?!
