"You've got the brain washed, that's the Democrats, and the brain dead, that's the Republicans." - Mark Russell
I'm writing this in an advanced stage of whoppedness, and doing so in an effort to stay awake for another hour. Because going to bed before 8:30 is too weenie even for me.
My time at the coffee shop has shifted from writing to prep for my trip to Puerto Rico next month. I arrive on a Friday night and teach a 2-hour session Saturday morning on church leadership. I want it to have lots of substance, but also time for interaction.
I'm preaching Sunday morning and then doing a seminar M, T, & W night, two and a half hours each night. A youth meeting both Th and Fr. night, and one-on-one time with select leaders each day.
Which is to say, there's lots of work to be done.
When I got home Pam left to do the laundry and I went right to work on the coop's porch. Got it finished about 3:30. It took me longer than I thought, but I ran into a few snags, including a broken tip on my drill's Phillips head driver.
I made it up as I went along and realized after the floor was in that my spindles would tilt inward at the bottom about 1/4", but at that point there was nothing to do about it - at least on a scale I was willing to accept.
In the spring the porch will get flower pots.
Pam wanted a Dutch door because it would look cute. That was going to be too much work and money in hardware for no functional purpose, so I promised her something I thought would be an equivalent on the cute scale but would also serve a purpose. This is basically a big step, helps with the mud issue right in front of the door, and dresses up the front a bit.
Now I have to order the hardware cloth to enclose the run and we'll be ready for chickens. If we get the day-old chicks the first of March they'll be ready for the coop the middle of May.
I've struggled to find a reason why Donald Trump still has a significant level of support, and today it dawned on me.
Half the people are below average. And a case could be made that Republicans tend to weigh more, if you get my drift.
Trump's numbers in Iowa are at 31%. I'm thinking there are a lot of Bubbas in that group.
Today is Robert Burns' birthday. Have a bowl of haggis in honor of the bard of Scotland.

You could add trim to the door to make it look like a dutch door without the functionality
I considered that. Two sets of hinges, two latches, the faux ledge between the doors....
Naw.
none of that - just two 'X's stacked on the door
