"More marriages might survive if the partners realized that sometimes the better comes after the worse." - Doug Larson

It didn't rain today.
But wait! There's more!
The weather guys all agree that the next chance for measurable precip isn't until next Friday. That's almost a week away!!
This is going to feel like Arizona. OK, maybe not that, but I have big plans to take advantage of this break in what has been a very wet winter.

I have the chicken coop and run 99% done, and what remains can only happen when the ground has dried out a bit. I'm hoping that by Monday afternoon I can push dirt back in place and level the ground. Pics when that happens.

This morning we went to the livestock auction that they hold every Saturday in Junction City, 30 minutes north of here. We went just for fun, and it was. We got there about 10 minutes after it had started and they were finishing up chickens. They went from there to sheep, then goats, pigs, and when we left 90 minutes later they were auctioning cattle.

I wish we'd had someone to answer our questions, 'cause there was a lot of stuff we didn't understand. We *think* sometimes an animal was auction on a price-per-pound rate, and other times on a flat price. We're pretty sure the auctioneer expressed amounts in dollars when people understood it was really hundreds.

Those calves were so young they walked almost like newborns and did the awkward overjoyed jump bit.
Things moved along very quickly, so I wondered if buyers had the opportunity to look over the animals ahead of time. Or are these old boys experienced enough that they can tell in 30 seconds what that pig is worth?

Not all of them were old, but they were all farmers. Aside from the Mennonite family I think the men all consider details like a shower or clean clothes optional. I told Pam, I looked around the room and a tune came to mind.
"You don't have to be lonely, at FarmersOnly.com"
We'll probably go back sometime; it was a free, fun outing. And if you come for a visit...

I installed a new thermostat this afternoon. Should it bother me that the "Quick Start Guide" was 23 pages long?

Some of the news sites have an article with the headline, "How to Watch Broncos, Panthers in Superbowl 50." I clicked through and the article was as much about the halftime show as the football game.
I don't think I'm gonna need their help figuring out how to watch the game. Turn on the TV, sit down in my chair, and watch.

I'm planning on working outside between church & the game. I'll have a couple of hours of sunny weather, a commodity not to be wasted.
