"My wife is outspoken, but by whom?" - Sam Levenson

Rural Oregon = mice and rust. I pulled a brand new rag out of the bundle and it had a hole chewed in it. Same thing with an old towel out of the pile. I took a radiator clamp off the top hose and it was stuck with rust. The lever on my ratchet was, too.

Rural Oregon = braking on the way to the gym for a mallard and two ducklings, and braking on the way home for four turkey buzzards in the middle of the road.

The current section of the book requires extreme precision, as in spending an hour to write one paragraph. By the time I do the research and get the wording the best I can make it my brain is fried for the day.

I came home from the coffee shop and started work on the teardrop. After four years it was time to give it a light sanding and another coat of spar varnish. Storage in the desert was easy, but the winter moisture here took a toll in a couple of places. Even covered with plastic and the waterproof cover Pam made didn't keep the 100% humidity at bay. I can feel a couple of spots where there's a void in the plywood just below the surface. I hope that keeping the wood well sealed with the varnish will give us years of use before more drastic measures are required.

Coincidentally, we made plans today to use our home on wheels in just a few weeks, and it's gonna be FUN. Josh & Aubri, Megan and Caedon are coming for a visit in early June as they make a trip to explore the Oregon coast using their new (to them) tent trailer. After a few days on Baker Rd. they'll head up the coast to a state park near Tillamook, and then down to another state park south of Coos Bay. One of the things on their agenda is the chain saw art festival in Coos Bay. Today I was able to book a night in that park just across from theirs! So we'll drive the two hours down to join them at that festival and then camp with them. Plus, we can drive five minutes north to Nonnies Breakfast Barn in Charleston, where they serve pancakes the size of a plate and the Best. BACON. In. The. World. Lunch and dinner there are pretty good, too.

I finished The Name of the Rose this morning. It was better the first time through.
Tomorrow I'll begin the next book in the Poldark series.

I'm meeting Wednesday morning with the pastor of the church we attended Sunday. I hope the conversation is helpful toward our efforts to find a home church.

After the coffee shop tomorrow I'm headed into Lowe's to get the vinyl tile flooring for Fred.
Progress!
