This is the local community paper, a freebie, named after the big reservoir just a few miles from our place. Read today's headline. Then read it again. You get what you pay for.
You can't tell from this pic, but there is a slope from left to right. It drops about 1' in the 8' run. That's less than recommended, but a) it's a goat shed, and b) it's not like I have to worry about snow load. Just a lot of water, which pretty consistently runs downhill.
That took all morning. After lunch I worked on the siding, installing the cedar fence boards I'm using to save money. When I ran out of fence boards I started on the cordwood, using the wheelbarrow to haul it up to the rack I made. By 3:30 it was too hot for that (upper 80's today) so I went down to Fred and worked on my sermon for 10/9 when I'm preaching a.m. and p.m. in Seattle. More on that as the time nears.
<< This pile is about 6' tall and 20-25' long. It's primarily from the logs they left behind because they wouldn't have filled up a load and weren't worth coming back for. So they're wet, totally unseasoned wood.
This pic shows just a little in the foreground, but that pile in back is about twice the size of the one above. It's all from logs they left because the trees were dead, or dying, or not merchantable for some other reason.
And here are the rounds left over that I'll do with the splitting maul. I'm pretty sure they're all from dead trees, which means they're dry and should split fairly easily. And it's not like I have to split them tomorrow. If they wait until next spring, no problem. If I don't get them done before the season-long rains start I'll cover them and wait until next spring.
There's a lot of talk about how bad our two options are. Donald is unqualified in almost every way - intellectually, morally, temperamentally, ethically.
Hillary is writing checks we can't cover, has unacceptable positions on all the moral issues facing our country, and has a history of what can charitably be called bad judgment but may be much worse.
Voting for someone other than the two major party candidates is NOT a protest vote, it's a conscience vote. Two bad choices are still bad choices and the lesser of evils is still evil. I'll accept that Evan McMullin has no realistic chance of winning, though there are scenarios that could result in a McMullin presidency. However, voting for him - which requires a write-in effort here in Oregon - allows me to exercise my democratic right and responsibility and do so in a way consistent with my moral and political convictions.
If my preferred candidate was from one of the major parties, but because of political realities had no chance of winning I'd still vote for him/her. No one would say I was throwing away my vote. Which is why I'll be writing in McMullin's name.
You might check to see if he'll be on the ballot in your state. It looks like he'll be eligible as a listed candidate or write-in in 40 states.
And here is an article from The Weekly Standard on his candidacy.

On your roof - I would cover the exposed nail heads with tar or a urethane sealant (comes in caulk tubes).
It's held up OK on the coop and woodshed w/o tar, so I'm cautiously optimistic. I tarred (sealant) all the seams and the perimeter, so all the nails went through that before they hit the deck. I guess we'll know by Monday.
(I'm guessing you're a man with roofing experience. Ah, the life of a camp director.)
