You can't fix stupid, not even with duct tape. - anonymous

Older brother Scott sent me this.

I didn't post last night because the site wasn't working properly. Now I have too much for one post. Do I write too much, omit things I'd otherwise include, or save some of it for subsequent posts? This is more complicated because tomorrow probably won't include time for writing given our schedule of church stuff.

University Fellowship Church is offering a 3-week class on medical ethics issues before the worship service that we've decided to attend. In the evening we're going to visit one of the small groups that meets at the home of an orthopedic surgeon we met last Sunday. It goes from 7-9 p.m. which means we'll be home after my bedtime.

One of the things I would have included in last night's post is this pic which shows the effects of the vinegar/steel wool solution (the left side in this pic) that I sprayed on the goat shed using my garden sprayer. I used up the gallon of the mixture that I brewed so I've started another to finish the job. I think the color is as advertised and it does look much like aged barn wood. But it lacks the other marks of age, the nicks, scrapes, and splits of decades-old wood.
So be it.
I think the goats may take care of that part for me. And as the wet cedar boards dry out they'll shrink, exposing the roofing felt underneath and adding to the illusion of age.
I like the look and it cost about $5 to pull off.

Today I got the hay feeder made, a plexiglass window installed (it was dark in there!), and the door and service gate made. I did it all with scrap I had on hand, and the feeder involved some creative designing that I enjoyed doing, so I count it a good day. Don't know if what I made will work or if adjustments will be necessary.

Pam went shopping today and bought me a light blue dress shirt for next Sunday morning when I'll preach in Seattle. I'll wear my Costa Rica soccer shirt Sunday night 'cause it will fit what I'm going to talk about.
She also found me something I'd asked for - a zip-up hoodie. MoHo gets pretty cold at night and I'm typically up in the wee hours of the morning so it will help me stay warm until the wood stove has done its work. I think it's the first hoodie I've owned since I was a young boy.

The other major news item is that my next teaching trip is on the calendar - Brazil from Jan. 26 to Feb. 3 of next year. It's all still in the early stages of planning but I'm already looking forward to the opportunity. The major effort will be training Brazilian pastors, teaching them the kinds of things I taught at the college, including the preparation and delivery of a sermon.
The missionary spearheading the plan was one of my students, and a good one, too.

I'll save the rest for a future post, maybe Monday night. There's a leftover cup of coffee in the kitchen with my name on it.
