"Never express yourself more clearly than you are able to think." - Niels Bohr
Last night we finished watching "The Hollow Crown," the PBS Masterpiece Theater dramatization of Shakespeare's trilogy on the Wars of the Roses. We agreed it was VERY good, and a great way for two NRSers (Never Read Shakespeare) to get into that literature. It had some big names, including Cumberbatch and Dench. But mostly it was engaging, and the cinematography was amazing. The visuals were stunning, both settings and action sequences. If you ever see it come up again, watch!!
Asante has scours, goat-speak for the runs. Yuck. We've done lots of reading and it's almost always caused by diet issues, especially as a response to changes. We dropped the 2 a.m. feeding and increased the volume at the other five bottles, so that might be all it is. But it can also be a bacterial infection, which requires a penicillin injection. Turns out I can get that at the feed store, including syringes, but we're trying Pedialyte, and then adjust his diet before we go that route.
Itzhak is doing great! He's up to about 15 pounds with good "output."
Worked on my sermon this morning. It's New Year's Day with bad weather in the forecast, so I'm assuming attendance might be in the double digit range. No matter; my role remains the same.
I think what bothers me about the attention given to the deaths of George Michael and Carrie Fisher is that it illustrates our obsession with celebrity. We're talking an actor and a musician. Yes, they were both very good, but they didn't cure cancer or prevent a massacre. They were entertainers, both of whom had lived lives of debauchery.
From my younger brother....
Wife texts husband: "Windows frozen, won't open."
He responds: "Gently pour lukewarm water over it and tap edges lightly with hammer."
Ten minutes later she texts back: "Computer really messed up now."
I made some adjustments to the truck's choke plate and will take it into town tomorrow to see if that solves my hot start problem. Fingers crossed.
We have bottles & nipples on the kitchen counter, plastic jugs of premixed formula in the fridge, onesies drying over the shower rod in the bathroom, and a cover on the couch to protect it from leaky diapers.
The next set of kids will be raised by their mama out in the barn!
Stella will be a first time mom when we breed her in a year, but at least she'll have instinct going for her.
BTW, this is normal coloring for a Boer. Breeders work to get anything but this, so Itzhak's black and Asante's "red" are desirable, and more expensive. Marta was gracious enough to give us a deal.
